My daughter is in town for a few days! In Rochester, NY we are known as the Lilac City because of the number of Lilacs we have and it is a great area for growing them. They have a Lilac Festival and the park has 100 different types of flowering trees and a large variety of lilacs. They smell wonderful! We meandered through the flowers and there were many different people exhibiting their talents in the park. Banjo players, cellists, jugglers, flute, guitar, etc. Was a beautiful 85 degree day, which is very rare around here (today it is 60 and gray). I got a good walking workout because the flowers are on a hill so lots of up and down. I ate my salad before we went to the festival so that I was not tempted by the fair food.

This morning she went with me to my weight workout. We did plank challenge #2. Just goes to show you how that darn blank is such a mental workout - normally I can barely do 1 minute but with her by my side, and not to be outdone, we both lasted 1.5 minutes and it didn't even bother me. HAHA goes to show you mind over matter.

I have been doing well with fighting the beast. Last night I wanted candy so bad but NO candy. I stuck to my guns and got rewarded with some weight loss.

This Sunday I am going to visit my brother. He is in prison so it is always hard to go there and come back without binge eating because it is stressful. I have been there many times but it is hard to leave someone you love in that place. I don't care what they did, they are still your family. Inside the meeting place (it is like a big cafeteria) they have lots of salads and other healthy choices so there is no excuse to not eat well. It is going home afterwards that is always the struggle. So last time I brought some food with me for the post trip and I will do that again.

I have to be honest about something though. I am trying to stop the action of binge eating. So, just because you binge eat healthy food doesn't mean it's not a binge. I guess you can't undo 30 years of binge eating in a month or even a year. So what I try to do is if I feel I may binge, I try to limit the damage to my diet by at least having healthy choices like chicken and cucumbers.

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

I didn't live there long enough as a child to know/remember it as the lilac city, but I loved the lilacs in our backyard in Irondequoit. Thanks for the fragrant memory. Have a beautiful weekend!

Congrats on resisting the candy beast! Pre-planning for something you know will trigger you is very, very smart. You're better than your habits/cravings. I know you are. Take the Love from your visit, and be glad that you can see your brother. You've got this!
