I'm struggling with the new medication of insulin...I feel like yesterday and today I hit targets head-on! As I find the foods I'm allowed to have frequently, and those sparingly I will do much better. Keeping a food journal in a notebook as well as here on fatsecret.
292.0 lb Lost so far: 2.6 lb.    Still to go: 42.0 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

Good luck! Insulin wasn't a hard adjustment for me, but I watched my dad use it most of my life, and watched him steadily lose more and more of his body and functionality to diabetes so it was a major motivator for me to change. LOL Finding your personal glycemic hits and knowing which carbs and combinations hit you hardest will help you immensely as will strict portion control. You have my empathy.
