Hi FS gang!
Well, my fast started at 6 pm yesterday and this morning I pooped-out during my workout and got sick to my stomach. I may not be able to do fasting on weight training days. I am going to switch the 24 hour days to Tue, Thur, Sat except next week for Thanksgiving week since I will be out of town.

I didn't eat enough yesterday which may not have helped - I didn't eat any dinner yesterday, which isn't a real issue, but I only ate 1100 calories. I honestly wasn't hungry but I may have needed more protein.

I ordered some Krill oil omega 3s (for cholesterol) and Evening Primrose Oil (good for hot flashes). I also ordered a vitamin D3 test b/c I am not going to mess around with higher doses of D3 without knowing where my level is at right now. This is supposed to help with diabetes and cholesterol so I want to take the therapeutic amount but I am not doing it blind.

Natural sunlight is the best source for D but I leave home when it's dark, work until it's dark, and I live on one of the cloudiest places on the planet so I don't think I would get enough D from sun.

It is interesting when you fast because it makes everything you put into your mouth more of a big deal. You need to eat right on non-fasting days so that you can get the proper nutrients.

Why fasting? (Curious as to what you are trying to accomplish with it)

Confused. Are you fasting and taking Diabetic medication?

Hi Arabella! You can fast and take diabetic medication as long as your doctor is aware of it. (I just had my physical) You just have to monitor your blood sugar. I no longer take insulin and my doctor just took me off Janumet so now I am just on metphormin. My fasting blood sugars are not low enough to be completely off all meds -- 120s still. I am very careful about all of this and monitor my bs 4x per day. I hope with 36 hour fasting I will eventually be completely off of these meds. Dr. Fung's fasting book has lots of data that shows the bs improvement as a result of intermittent fasting. I don't know how long it will take b/c I figure I have been diabetic for a good 10 years so my system it pretty damaged. @Joc I hope to resolve my insulin resistance by fasting so that I eliminate my diabetes. See Dr. Jason Fung. He has several youtubes on this and written 2 books.

So fantastic that you are doing this with such determination and care. I have read that you should take it easy on heavy exercise when fasting. For me this is certainly true, I get light headed and woozy if I try to do heavy gardening work while fasting. The electrolyte supplements help with that, but I don't push it. There are many prime athletes who work and win while fasting, but that's not me. I need to be careful. I don't want anybody to have to peel me off the ground.

PS I just bought the Moore/Fung new book, "The complete Guide to Fasting". It came today, signed by Jimmy Moore with the line, "Just don't eat.......... from time to time!" I'm looking forward to reading it and learning more!

Wow Erika that's cool you got the book signed! I got mine recently which is where I came up with the fasting protocol I am using.
