Nothing else to do but own up to it and make corrections...Sorry I haven't been engaged much here on FS lately. The last few weeks saw a lot of ups and downs: reunion (hubbie's 35th college), anniversary (29th), and graduation parties, but also the funeral of a 39 year old man who left a wife 2 young boys. Daughter back home with all of her junk food and chaos. Spend a night in the ED with her when she was taken by ambulance from work (one she has since quit) due to facial numbness and was officially given the diagnosis (again) of type 2 diabetes when her blood sugar topped 250, several hours after her last meal. Trying to convince her to take this seriously and go back on her metformin and check her sugars. She has started to go to a gym with a friend and is eating somewhat healthier but I have been unable to get her to go low carb like me and my husband. I can only do what I can...She has seen my transformation and hears the comments people make to me and hopefully she will take this step on her own. Because of her various psych diagnoses, anything I try to suggest is no good, she has to decide on her own.

Starting to feel that Onederland is a mythical place...

Owning up is a huge step! You can use celebrations as an excuse, or as a challenge. It's much more empowering to see them as a challenge. You make your choices, your daughter makes hers. Find peace with it, and the peace will spread.

It must be enormously difficult to live with an adult child with these illnesses. I imagine it brings an especially personal and painful source of stress directly into the very space you go to retreat from the stress of the world and at the end of a long work day full of its own stresses. It must be hard not to engage in stress response overeating. You are a strong woman and a deeply loving mother. You accomplish so much in life and take care of so many others. I hope you can find a way to take care of yourself too and to ease the stress somehow.
