Fledgist's Journal, 24 September 2011

I did 51 minutes at the gym yesterday, after a 20 minute walk. Since the class yesterday afternoon was a student presentation, I didn't stand for all of it, so I didn't put in as much physical effort as I could have. Still, I'm down over a pound at the end of the week. That's a very good result. Step by step, my goal comes closer. Then the really hard work will begin!
187.4 lb Lost so far: 149.6 lb.    Still to go: 19.4 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

My BMI is now 26.9, which is still significantly overweight but a lot lower than before. Thanks for the compliments. I've really been working at it.

What's interesting is that according to the Hall's website, for my age and height I'm just below the median weight (at the 47th percentile). My goal weight (inside the normal range) would be at the 19th percentile for weight. That's rather scary. The average American male in my age group is overweight by 25+ pounds.

Wow such an inspiration step by step you are getting there....amazing. Interesting facts about the average American male, it is scary as you say. How nice to start being normal, frankly that is what I want just to look normal.

You are getting closer and closer. I am sure your jacket will fit you next week.

You sort of expect to sag as you grow older, but it seems that too many people are sagging too much. I'm seeing too many young men looking too large for their age. I certainly hope my jacket fits, the only other one I own is far too large now!
