I'm into week 8 of P90X and I have to say, I feel great!! My weight loss has slowed a bit in the last 6 weeks, but picking up some lean muscle more than makes up for it. I've had to get rid of more than half my wardrobe because I was swimming in my pants and shirts. It feels good to be able to go out and get new clothes that look and fit great. I'm down 3, almost 4 pants sizes and into size-L shirts for the first time since college.

It's hard to believe 6 months has flown by since I started my journey. Going into the start of this year was rough. I was physically, emotionally and spiritually drained. Emotionally, I was still dealing with the loss of a close co-worker of mine who was killed in a car accident. Physically, I was way overweight, fraught with back, neck and knee pain. Spiritually, I felt a total disconnect from my soul and longed for that deep inner peace. Looking back, going into January I was either on the verge of depression or at least the early stages.

It took me about a week from the start of the year to come up with my New Year's Resolutions, which I have traditionally shrugged off or made very half-hearted efforts to keep. However, this year I desired something more than just to lose 10 lbs, or exercise more, or pick up a new hobby. I had bigger, better, more long-term things in mind. If nothing else, the death my co-worker taught me 2 things: 1) You only get one life to live, so live it to the fullest while you can; and 2) A life lived purposefully is a fulfilling and rewarding life. So my New Year's Resolutions were to 1) Reconnect with the real me (physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually) and 2) Live life on purpose.

So now, 6 months into the year I'm looking back to see how far I've come. Honestly, I'm a lot further along than I thought I'd be. I'd like to think that it can be attributed to the synergistic power of change. Sticking with my diet was a tough change make, especially the counting calories part. However, once I paired that with exercise, the benefits increased and my motivation to make changes increased almost exponentially. Adding in qi gong, yoga and meditation to my diet and exercise really helped to bring me back to emotional and mental balance and keep me centered. Small change on top of small change equals big changes in the long run.

It's been an amazing journey thus far. I've learned things about myself I never knew. I've also had the opportunity to get back to the core essence of who I am. I've got to admit, I really missed that guy, so I'm glad he's back around. My qi is as bright as my future, so don't forget your stunnaz next time you see me!

I caught site of your lovely journal entry... So heartfelt...... Good for you turning your life around.. Sad it took the death of a dear friend, to give you that push to do it, but I bet he's looking down at you and thinking "way to go man :-)"
