Up a little, but still maintaining under 130, which is where I want to be. Getting a slow start on my goal of covering 1000 miles in 2023, so I'll work in a long walk today. Taking a break from food tracking. I want to see what happens if I eat more intuitively, but still in light of the things I've learned about nutrition through tracking. My husband is finally taking an interest in eating better himself! He's been supportive and mostly willing to go along on whatever ride I was on, but he hadn't really taken much interest in nutrition himself until now. I'm really looking forward to both of us focusing on our health more

Thanks otb! It's not like he was eating junk, and he's really fit. It's more he just didn't think about food much, and when I was at work (he's retired) he'd just live off of toast, fruit, cashews, and what little milk he put in his coffee 😂

Good for your husband!👍 My husband tells me that I don’t have any taste buds so that’s where mine is at!:)

What does he mean by not having any taste buds, Navywifeski? 🤔

It'd be great if I could free pour my coffee creamer or even guess the weight of tomatoes, red onion etc. 🧐 I need the scale 🤗 You taught me well 😉

I'm flying free a bit, LivinBreezy, TBH. Not really even mentally trying to keep a calorie count, but only trying to get a balanced diet with moderate portions based on the things I've learned over the last year. I find I care a little less about food when I'm not tracking, which has both ups and downs. If I have to resume tracking, based on whether I'm still maintaining, I'll go back to it

Good luck with the mileage.

Definitely looking forward to the day where I can mentally 'track' the days cal/protein/salt ... for now I'm still enjoying playing with the food diary and learning how the ratios change (even though I totally blew it Fri/Sat) Today is Sunday 😇

You got this! So nice to be able to be on the same page with the spouse, too. 😊

I wish my husband would get better with processed foods and snacking. He has been better with meals, he will now eat meat and a vegetable instead of a starch. Baby steps, right? Glad your husband is coming around!!👍

Trying to keep my husband away from potato chips can sometimes be a project and a half. Hey, we love our guys and we want to get old with them🇨🇦

It would be wonderful if all the overweight/obese/unhealthy spouses of FS members would change their diet!!! Nothing is worse than trying to eat on plan while the spouse is munching on chips and cookies during the movie or game.☹️ So it's great to hear the hubs is on board this year!😊 Half the battle is won at the grocery store, so since you're in charge of the shopping, you never have to bring home or order any of the ingredients that go into his baking projects. I actually threw away my baking powder, flour, sugar, etc. a couple of years ago to remove the temptation.

I'm fortunate that beyond the baking, he hasn't been a junk food eater. He's generally happy for me to stick good food under his nose. Extremely happy, usually -- he's never met a veggie he didn't like. The problem has been getting him to eat decently when I'm either not there or too exhausted to deal with food. He just doesn't really think about what he eats. He's rail thin and fit, but he's realized we need to make some changes. I want to sit down with him today and come up with a plan that will support the slightly different nutritional needs and food preferences for both of us. I'm pretty sure it'll be some iteration of a Mediterranean diet, but on the plant-heavy side of that. For us, it'll be small shifts instead of a total makeover

Hubby started paying more attention to his weight & waistline when I made changes to what I served for dinner each night. He started to lose weight, too. He also likes veggies & eats whatever I prepare. His snacking habits have changed. He does still like a treat....as I do, but doesn't snack as much. Like your husband, Writing, if left on his own he'll pick the easier route for meals. Funny, cause years ago when we first met he'd cook for me. After we were married we shared the cooking....him usually making the meat on the grill. Now it seems I do most of the cooking. We do clean up after together ❤️
