My adherence to my plan wasn't good until about the last 11 days. I think two things affected that. One was reading a blog and seeing short videos made by Brad Pilon, who recommends fasting from dinner to dinner several days a month as a way to restrict calories. He claims that the research shows that this kind of deprivation does not lower the metabolism and actually mimics the effects of vigorous exercise. He recommends living this way forever. He also recommends weight lifting to preserve and even build muscle. I haven't gotten to 24 hours yet, but I'm pleased with my progress at getting hungry.

The second was listening to a weight loss hypnosis cd. I think that plus my new attitude toward getting hungry-I'm more willing to tolerate it, and am even finding mild hunger pleasant- have made it possible for me to drop a few pounds. I've also found that I don't necessarily want to eat a lot just because I've gone a long time between meals. This morning I weighed 170.4, but I usually average my weight. I had been out of town so I just had to guess. When I left, I was at about 175.

I'm hoping next month to be able to say that my compliance was good.
