allanpendlebury's Journal, 12 April 2022

Today I did my normal Nanoose creek falls hike and at one point the trail was almost impassable with a couple of trees blown over it. So went home had lunch and green tea; grabbed my small chainsaw and hiked back to the creek and cleared the blockage. Then home and took my we dog for a 20 minute walk. So my step count today now over 23,000.

What a beautiful place! Yay for getting in so many steps!! I'm seeing you are up near Nanoose bay! I didn't even know you had elk out on the island (referring to your comment on my journal). I just have never thought of them there. That is so cool! I have spent a lot of time out your way. Three summers as a teen working on Quadra island, but we only saw bear, deer and once a cougar. You certainly are in a beautiful place! Thanks for sharing this lovely photo!

melissatwa Hi Melissa (Grand daughter's name). Yes quite a few elk herds on the island. They have draw's for elk hunts; never in our area though. It's sad, but there have been two elk massacres through the years that I am aware of. We can suspect who did it, but will keep my suspicions to myself. I have come across herds quite a few times; they have always skedaddled fortunately. I think I would sooner tackle a bear than a raging bull elk😃😃😃
