TXSnowman's Journal, 26 June 2014

Well, its only been 5 days since I switched up to a LCHF eating plan, so I can't say for sure how well its likely to work for me. However, all of the research I can find on the subject reinforces my conviction that avoiding high-glycemic carbs and severely restricting all other carbs, while insuring a steady supply of high quality protein and fat will keep me moving ever closer to my ultimate goal. Only time will tell how well this will work, however, my weight is moving in the right direction, as is my body fat percentage.

My leg has healed enough to allow me to hike with the dogs again, and my planned travel is done until October, so I can get busy with a good workout regimen again. I need to add resistance training, yoga, and a good core workout back into my weekly mix now that time permits.

Hope y'all have a great remainder of the week and a wonderful weekend!

Thanks Drag & Chica. I'm feeling much better since cutting the carbs way down. Hope that it continues.

LCHF stands for Low Carb - High Fat. I'm avoiding all High Glycemic carbs (potatoes, bread, rice, grains, dry beans, corn, carrots, & any added SUGAR). I eat limited amounts of Low Glycemic carbs (spinach, broccoli, green beans, anything dark green & leafy). I eat as much meat and fat as I like. I eat a lot of butter, cook with coconut oil or olive oil, and eat beef, pork, chicken, turkey & fish. I also eat a lot of eggs and some cheese. I stopped buying fat-free products. I read every label looking for the Net Carbs and especially how many grams of sugar are in the product. I try to eat only whole foods that I prepare from scratch and avoid packaged/prepared foods.

Thanks TX! i think I am having exactly the opposite cos my body fat is way too high at 32%! I am eating any kind of vegetable that is easy to prepare and for lunch i will have beef, pork, chicken, turkey or fish...however most things are farmed here, you have to really shop around to get grass fed or wild. I'll be following you and your diet cos it's really easy to follow if it makes you shed the pounds. Keep us posted, I'm very interested. Even coconut oil and olive oil may be tampered I've read so i really used them sparingly. Whole foods are the best and the easiest to log on FS so i'm totally with you on that!
