FringyLiz's Journal, 30 April 2014

I'm torn over this massive weight gain. I ate a little more than I have been yesterday, but by a little more I mean I went from an average of 800 calories a day to 1100 calories yesterday. 300 calories does NOT four pounds make.

It's water retention, plain and simple. The issue is that when I saw my doc yesterday he did some blood work and told me my headaches were because my sodium levels were way too low. Eat more salt and drink less water, he told me. So I did yesterday, and sure enough I feel MUCH better today. No more headache, no new unexplained bruises on my legs, working out doesn't feel nearly as difficult and I slept much better last night.

I know this is a change that will lead to a much healthier me, it's just really discouraging to see the number jump back up so drastically, and negate all the progress I made from a long week of resisting temptation and pushing my limits in workouts every day. I could use some outside encouragement to offset the number on the scale.

At least you logically know this is from salt intake and that it's leading to a healthier you. Just keep chugging and the number will drop again. *hugs*

Losing weight by making your health deteriorate isn't right, but now that you've caught it, you can change it, and be healthier. The over all picture of losing weight is to be healthy, so don't worry :) The thing that counts is you feel better. Don't worry about the water weight- it'll drop :) Just keep up what you're doing and those numbers you were so disheartened to see will fade away.
