You have the worlds biggest cook book at your disposal. GOOGLE is your friend, ask it for low cal recipes containing whatever ingredient you want and suitable for any way of eating that you are interested in..

I started my scratch cooking expertise by literally looking at the ingredients in the things I like in the store. I recommend doing the same, and removing all the junk, especially the sugar. Mix your own fruit into plain yogurt; make your own mac & cheese with half the fat and whole grain pasta; find out that stir-fry is actually super easy, and make it with un-battered meat. One thing that tripped me up: you will be absolutely astounded by the calories in nut butters, especially Nutella, but even regular peanut butter. 4 tbsp is a whole meal! Bread has sugar in it, and there is little to do about it, but some are better than others. A PB&J can be 800 cals if you're not careful! Unsweetened nut butter, cream cheese, and actual fruit makes a much better and healthier snack, especially if you tone down quantities, and doubly so if you toast it. I use apples or bananas. Start reading labels. Cut out sugar as much as possible. The BEST thing you can do, though, is to cut your portions! Here's a trick I use: Right before every meal, before you serve yourself portions, pour yourself a glass of water and finish it. You will eat less, guaranteed.

What helped me a lot staying in my calorie count: eat the same thing as before, BUT fill half of my plate with salad or veggies. This way I don't feel deprived, but I still manage to eat less calories :)

Veggies are nutrient dense and low in calories, just beware of what you add to them. Dairy products, sauces ect bring up the calorie count quickly. Load up your plate with salad and vegetables. There are some yummy flavored vinegars out there that are super low in calories that you may want to try.

Just pick vegetables that have a lower glycemic index. High starch vegetable like corn add up carb wise very quickly. Smaller amounts of a variety is always good.

I love to keep frozen cauliflower rice in the freezer. Super convenient if you’re out of fresh veggies and need something quick to pair with a protein.
