zebdavison's Journal, 01 April 2014

It's kind of funny. After 11 months of really paying attention to my body, I feel like I could easily lose another 10 pounds without really trying too hard. It would not be difficult to drop 500-1000 calories off my daily intake for the few weeks it would take. Yet, here I am, struggling mightily to drop 2 pounds of fat!

The key, of course, is that it's relatively easy (not necessarily fun, mind you!) to lose weight. Losing fat can be maddeningly hard. I don't want to lose lean mass - I'm trying to gain muscle. So I have to be careful about how I go about losing weight.

My weight has been hovering around 183-184 pounds for a few weeks now, and the recent backslide made me wonder whether I had stopped making progress. So I looked back over the last two months of data (weight, waist measurement, and recent body fat percentage from my new Buerer scale), and was pleasantly surprised to note that I've lost about 2 pounds of fat since I started my LGLCHF diet (low-grade LCHF - really more IIFYM leaning toward LCHF for the target macro calculation).

As for the backslide, yesterday was a good start to stopping it - I hit my protein big time, went over on fat but way under on carbs. Weight unchanged from yesterday, but I expect the fluid will start coming off tomorrow, and the weight will drop. Stay the course! A thousand points of light!
184.6 lb Lost so far: 0.4 lb.    Still to go: 14.6 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.
