inaccurate body fat percentage from body composition scale: 9.2 %
inaccurate waist measurement horizontally across navel: 81.5 cm (meh...)
Blood pressure and heart rate: 116/64 - 64 bpm

I can't believe I have been off sweets for this much time. I don't consider myself a person of strong will and lots of things so far have pointed to that. But this appears to be an exception. There are times, especially when I'm hungry, that I really feel like eating sweets (not nearly as much as during withdrawal but still enough that the imaginary adds for sweets will start developing in your mind at those times when I'm hungry).

Then I think about all those things that improved both with my body and mind since I've abandoned sweets and how throwing all that away and wasting all the effort so far would probably leave me seriously depressed and about how this diet is reason to feel good in itself and so I optimistically turn to other equally tasting natural alternatives (usually fruit), and I quickly forget about the sweets.

When you're trying to avoid sweets, it's good not to let your brain think about them for more than 2, 3 seconds. Usually, in my case, an image of a chocolate will occasionally come to mind. 2 seconds afterwards I'm already consciously thinking about the next thing in the "brain" list. That way the brain doesn't develop the process and the desire doesn't grow. At least that's how I like to think the brain works :). If you let your thought fix itself on sweets for too much time, there's a chance you start obsessing about them, and then, it might get difficult to resist them. Each second thinking about it is a second your willpower is under attack heheh.

Inspiring! My husband and I are off alcohol and baked sweets (cookies, cakes, pies, etc...) for lent. I didn't realize how often we have baked sweets until we did this. Hopefully help out with the weight loss a bit too ;-) Way to go on sticking to your guns =)

Thanks njashka! :) I think willpower, at least on this matter, is fueled by the successful transition out of the withdrawal stage. That success alone has motivated me a lot so far! :)

Ahah Calyn! I know the feeling! I'm one of those persons that abused sweets. Going off sweets while under their "influence" is a tough experience! :) It will definitely help with the weight loss! You will definitely notice that. It will also help you curb your hunger because it means less sugar crashes! Thanks! :)

At this point, I would be lying if I said sweets were not desirable, but I can also truthfully say that, unlike how it was back when I was eating them, that going without them is now easily manageable at most times :)
