deelbee's Journal, 05 July 2021

I had my first 'stress triggered' binge last evening just before midnight...and it ram into wee hours. I recorded all the food calories under July 4. Started with an orange, followed with 2 squares dark 70% chocolate, ended with 3 crackers topped with remainder of canned chicken I had in fridge, topped with sweet bread & butter pickles. Then before I could do more damage I went to bed, with 429 calories in my stomach I did not need. It could have been a lot, lot worse, as I had a fridge full of food, as I went grocery shopping yesterday. The chocolate was purchased as a treat, each day, planning to eat just 1 square=10g=55cal. I carefully cut up all the squares and put it in a container in the freezer. But I could not stop thinking about them, even though 70% dark chocolate tastes horrible. Today will be a better day!

Chocolate definitely knows our siren songs! Dastardly stuff that.

Actually the antioxidants in the dark chocolate are good for you; and yeah the taste takes a bit of getting used too, but good for you for eating it anyways!

It's so tough. It is good to recognize the binge for what it is and to share with us. That is an important step in learning how to deal with it and healing. We have all been there!
