nosequepongo's Journal, 12 February 2014

Ok, so my scale is good, I weighed in my daughter and it was fine, the scale just tricked me on Monday and that was it, I can't believe I'm gaining weight, I walked 6 hours yesterday and drank lots of water, I haven't go to the bathroom today, I have an issue with that and I have to get fiber pills or something. Also I finally went over 1000 calories yesterday in my food and kept my carbs below 20 which is a good thing. Last night I had a dream where I stepped up on the scale and I had gained weight so I started to eat breads and candies like crazy, that was a weird and crazy dream but I'm not going to let it become true, so I'm using this journal to vent instead of eating my frustration. I'm not going to give up, not now not ever again, I always have failed with my diets, but I know this one is working, I have clothes that fit again so I'm not going to let the scale take me down, I'm not going to weigh in daily anymore and I'm going to let my clothes talk. No more daily calorie intake below 0 and no more light chocolate ice cream, no more laziness and more walking on my treadmill desk, that's what it is for. I can do it, I will do it. We'll all do it together :)

You're really doing great. The hardest thing to change is your mindset and clearly you've done just that. Don't let a bad week bring you down. You're body may still be adjusting - just be sure to be healthy. I know we can do this! :)

Scales should be banned, I am large started at 362 lbs, I've lost 8 lbs over the last month. I don't rely on the scale, i rely on how i feel, how my clothes fit. Some years ago as I went through a divorce (best diet ive ever had) i lost over 60 lbs, but then my weight went up but my clothes did fit they were to big, that's when I first started to dislike scales. I use them only now because most apps want weight. For anyone trying to lose weight you have to stay positive, or you will repeat the past. Just remember we all have bad days, that's what makes good days better. Smile, no matter who you are someone loves you just because your you. :)

You're doing great! Here is some advice that I've gotten over the years and made a lot of sense to me. Don't judge your calorie intake by day, do it by week! Doing it by day can be deflatting if you have a bad day. I know that if I'm taking in 2000 cals a day and one day I do 3000, I can lighten it up on a different day to even it out. The results will be the same. :) You're body is an incredible machine and will adapt to anything you do to it for a sustained period of time. If you're doing low carbs (under 30), ever 4 day or once a week (whatever your comfortable with), bump that carb intake to 150 or 200 with GOOD carbs (brown rice, sweet potatos..basically stuff YOU know your body burns well). This will cause your matabolism to kind of freakout because it will need to burn those carbs and ramp up. The next day, when you go back to low carbs, your metabolism will still be running high from the day before and you'll notice some pretty good body fat drop from this. You can google "carb cycling" and get more information on it. If you're going to weigh yourself, do it at your most "natural" body weight. This is when you wake up and right after you go to the bathroom. Your body has burned what you took in the day before and you haven't added to it by eating or taking in water yet. Think of it as being able to compair apples to apples. If you weigh yourself in the AM one day and PM the next, you've added 2-4 lbs of water and food by the PM that your body won't burn through until your sleeping. But, the best advice I ever got was...Don't be to hard on yourself. Health is a journey and not a race. Even if you only lose a 1/2 lbs a week, that's still 26 lbs a year better than you were before. :) Keep positive, stay motivated, make your goals, but most importainly..ENJOY LIFE! Regards, Scott
