So frustrating, I'm doing so well with my diet, I haven't eat a single chocolate in over a week, no sugar at all, no refined carbs, just low-carb stuff and I've been doing great, the carb cravings have gone down incredibly, of course I still think about chocolate, cakes and candy, but I'm super happy and I've set my mind so badly on losing the weight that for the first time in years I can control myself for over a week. I know I just started my period so that might be the reason why the scale didn't go down but it's still frustrating, I also need to go up in my calories a bit, but I don't know how to do that without adding carbs and still I'm not hungry between foods anymore, so eat just because? don't seem like a good idea. Any thoughts on that?.

Hi there, good that your brain is getting used to the idea of not having carbs so often; I feel the same way and I'm very happy about that. Do you exercise? perhaps you are gaining some muscles and this is why you don't see a 'real' weight loss (eventhough you really lost something). Regarding the food, I also struggle to eat things that are low in carbs but still healthy (as vegetables). Sorry I can't help there, I'm still learning to eat.

It's hard to provide a recommendation without seeing your full intake for the day. Are you logging everything? Also, what are your macro percentages for the day? Percent of protein, fat, and carbs?

Thanks for the support Chickturu!!, I don't excercise like really working out, I have a new treadmill desk (which is amazing) so I try to walk at least 4 hours from the 9 I work every day, since I work from home and I'm a single mom (4 year old baby girl) I can't really find time to go to a gym and I'm all day home. I haven't walked at all this week because my monthly cramps can get really bad. So yeah, I don't work out too much.

Hey there mcarthey, I do log everything I eat daily, at least since Tuesday last week, for example yesterday I had Carbohydrate (6%), Fat (55%), Protein (39%), I didn't eat so much yesterday because I was feeling sick in the morning so I had half of my breakfast at lunch. I'm trying to keep my carbs lower than 20g each day, not all days are successful, but I'm trying at least for the first couple of weeks until I reach 70kg.

Your macros are OK (although I might flip the fat and protein) but are you saying you've only been eating 500-700 calories on average a day?? Check out iifym.com and use their calculator and report back what their recommendation is for "aggressive" weight loss for your height and weight goal.

Your body might also be getting used to the new diet it's being given. It's great that your brain has kind of adapted to less sugar and carbs but your body might still be adjusting. I'd say stick to it and see what happens in another week or so. I just started fixing my diet as well and I know how upsetting it is to have changed but to not see results.

Yeah, I should be eating more calories at least 1000, but I still don't know how, I mean, my breakfast is eggs, bacon & cheese, my lunch is meat or fish with salad full of veggies, my dinner is more salad with ham and cheese, most of the times anyways, and the most calories I can get is 900 mostly when I eat fish instead of meat, but I can't afford fish daily lol. I don't know what to add to my meals that's enough low-carb to not pass my limit of 20g per day.

Thanks for the support The Love of Fit, I hope my body would get used to the diet faster hehehehe.

Try a healthy snack between meals. A spoon of peanut butter or a greek yogurt or a few baby carrots. It isnt heavy but it's a better alternative to picking up chocolate.

Thanks Melody, I'll get peanut butter then, I love baby carrots but I always over eat them so that sums up a lot of carbs so I'm trying to not have them at least for another week or so :)

Yes, as Melody mentioned, you can add some healthy snacks. Nuts are a good choice but they are high in fat so be sure to track carefully. Individually frozen chicken breasts are cheap and go a long way. Sliced up with some dipping sauce is a great snack. Have you considered a protein supplement powder for a nighttime snack? Lastly, you should be fine to increase that 20g limit a bit. You could nearly double it as you'll also be increasing your calories.

Yeah, I'm trying with nuts, I try to eat chicken but since my budget is reduced and I hate to cut the meat (I have butcher(?) cut it for me when I buy it) so I don't eat as much chicken as I'd like. And yeah, I plan on increasing my carb intake but as soon as I enter into ketosis and keep it for a while, I'm still not sure of how to know that but I guess my body will tell me eventually. The main issue I'm having now with the snacks is that I'm not hungry between meals so I don't know if eating snacks is a good idea, I feel like I'm going to puke if I eat when I'm not hungry. But thanks for the advise, I will try to force myself to eat snacks between meals, the least I want is to develop an eating disorder for not eating calories as needed. PS. my english some times is not as good as I'd like it to be, I'm a native spanish speaker.

OMG this is just too complicated for me. But yes, as they say it might be that your body is still trying to adjust and you will see the difference in a couple of days or perhaps a couple of weeks. But will be worth it! just try to eat a bit more :)

Thanks Chickturu :D And all for the support, now I don't feel as frustrated for not having lost any weight today :P Have a good day all :D

I take it you are doing Atkin's or something similar. I had two days that I was under 1100 calories, so I started adding small servings of nuts, vegetable juice, and fruit. I am not on as strict of a diet as yours. It is a lot easier when you are just trying to eat LESS carbs and very little processed foods like me. I too am on a budget, plus my husband doesn't BBQ in the winter, so I haven't been eating as much chicken as I should. In the summer we always have a handy ziploc bag full of BBQ, lightly seasoned chicken breasts. I just need to beg my hubbie to brave the cold and do some up for me! BTW, I only weigh once a week. I can't imagine all the stress I'd put myself through seeing my weight yo-yo if I was checking it more often. Good luck, and you'll see the results very soon!

You need to add more good fats to your diet...adkins is a high fat diet...try cooking your eggs in a good oil and also your meats...you will see a big difference..good luck

coconut oil (organic unrefined cold-pressed), macadamia nuts, wild caught salmon

I haven't been able to find coconut oil where I live, but I always use extra-virgin olive oil to cook, although I most of the times cook with no oil at all in an electric grill I have, I'll try the Macadamia nuts Cyndi and Nico :D, Gillian that BBQ chicken sounds very good, I do weigh in daily mostly because I want to identify the days I don't lose weight and try to find the reason and because I got too used to it that I do it like automatically, although I don't weigh in when I know I screwed up so I don't get stressed lol. Thanks all for the comments this is truly very helpful for me as I really have nobody at all to talk about this kind of stuff :)

I hear you can find it (coconut oil) at Carulla.

Try some nice hardy breakfast, even if you eat the eggs, add mushrooms, spinach, kale, onions, tomatoes (the last two not sure if you are avoiding)...But you can do that to other meals, load up on a bowl of broccoli with garlic/olive oil/sprinkle parm. Big hearty meals with veggies. :) Good luck! If you do crave the chocolate, not saying eat it, but check out Cacao Nibs (nuts.com or other). You might just need a few nibs to satiate the craving of chocolate without the sugar AND they have fiber (of course the ones without sugar).
