I read your bio. Welcome to FS. Over the last 40 years I have helped many very obese people with their weight loss journeys. I have learned many things along the way. Weight control is about a lifestyle change. Mastering portion control and moderation. Healthier choices most of the time and less healthy choices once in a while. Any way of eating that involves long term deprivation, cheat days and guilt is not sustainable. What also is not sustainable for most people (like you already pointed out) is depending on hours at the gym, running miles and miles, etc. life gets in the way. You have kids, responsibilities, Covid comes along, it rains, snows, you sprain an ankle or break an arm. A way of eating that allows you to eat real food, to eat with your family, to have an occasional treat Is one that you can carry into your future. We all need to decrease the carbohydrates we eat, to limit processed foods and added sugars, to eat healthier proteins and fats. We need to MOVE— include your family in that plan. Walking, hiking— fun activities are still exercise. We also need strength training for well developed muscle. If you can master some of these, your days of yo-yo dieting are over. Of the MANY people I have worked with over the last 40 years, I can tell you that not even one of them ever regained their weight. Good luck to you.
