soulinafishbowl's Journal, 01 April 2013

I was a little worried on Saturday because I was not very hungry despite having an extreme caloric deficit for the day; I did a lot of exercise and didn't eat very much. I had to make myself eat dinner. The following day (yesterday), I also did not eat very much because we were out all day, and couldn't find many options to fit my diet. I felt a little shaky by night time and had to continue snacking until I went to bed. This morning, I feel great, though. Appetite seems to be back to "normal", maybe my "new normal", since it is much less than it was before this diet. I think Saturday I was in full-on ketosis and burning body fat to make up for lack of food. And I was able to see a visible difference in my waistline as well in just a matter of a day or two. It was scary, and amazing. Just finished reading Gary Taubes' book, Why We Get Fat and What to do About It. He talked a little more about ketosis and also about the effect of this diet on diabetics. I am not diabetic, but my mother is. I will be very careful in suggesting this diet to others. Although the information, I am sure, can be valuable to anyone.
