stormisummer's Journal, 04 October 2008

Geez, I feel like I'm eating next to nothing. 1 - 3 oz portion sizes. I'm supposed to stay under 500 calories per day, but I think that's impossible. I wonder what my normal diet would have consisted of, I would bet it was higher than 2000 per day. I just need to get past this plateau and I'm sure things will feel better!

please don't take this the wrong way, but your not eating enough, i am not familiar with the medi weight loss plan, but i do work in the medical field, and when you are eating that little, your body thinks your trying to starve yourself and will actually hang onto the weight, it's a survival mechanism. i started my diet 3 weeks ago, have not felt hungry, and i'm eating plenty and i have already lost 14 lbs., from the way it sounds you are hungry, and you need to eat more in order to lose the weight. my results aren't exactly typical but the point is you may want to try another type of diet, it may work better for you and your body type. good luck and keep trying, i've been there and done that

Dang girl...I have to ask about the 500 cals a day also. I admit when I was losing I kept pretty low, but I ate a lot in volume, just low cal foods like cabbage and squash. My cals were about 800-1,100, BUT my doctor looked over my food diary and was following me very closely. She also gave me some great insight too. You dont want to lose muscle so keep up enough HEALTHY cals and build those muscles as it sounds you're already doing. I just say be true to yourself. You KNOW what you're doing and if you're eating enough. If you have energy, feel good, aren't lightheaded, etc... you're probably getting enough. You dont want to lose it in a way that once you stop...you'll only gain it back. There is a very realistic, healthy way to take weight off fast and keep it off. Email me anytime, really. There are ways to keep your cals super low while eating better/healthier than you ever have. Like..you could have a whole POT of cabbage soup in a day and be under 500 calories, or have one burger and be over that! I'd take the lower cal soup any day! You're eating so much more but yet everyones like, "How did you keep your calories so low, eat more, eat more"...but you ate more than they did! I'm sure you know what you're doing. hang in there. Best wishes and go get 'em!
