jessabridge4444's Journal, 20 May 2019

Yesterday was my spike day, so we went to Texas Roadhouse. No apps, no leftovers. Prime Rib (I cut off most of the fat), sides and rolls were devoured.

A great meal and I DESTROYED E in cards (rummy). It was so ugly it was beautiful! E and I play a game with every meal we eat together. It is bonding and helps us eat slower.

I did have a Iced Coffee at 11 am, and we ate about 2:30-3:30, so not quite an OMAD day, but that is OK.

Then we went to Newbury Comics, got a few books, went home and played Jurassic Park Legos and did some chores. Fantastic weekend.

Well, it had some bittersweet parts. E's grandfather is dying. He is 92, and is having hospice nurses come in Mon-Fri. Pop doesn't leave the couch anymore. He is too weak. So, E's uncle does EVERYTHING else. The man is wonderful. We signed power of attorney paperwork for E's uncle. I am sure that is a load off his mind. I am making some Italian Wedding Soup for them tonight.

His grandfather gets sleepy, and we were only there 15 mins. He say, "So, you got to go?", to E. And E say, "No, we can stay." He pauses, "Why, do you want to nap?" Pop say" "Yeah". LOL too funny. So, we left after hugs and kisses goodbye.

The other funny is: E's uncle: "Pop, the chaplain has been calling. He wants to see you. Do you want him to come by?" Pop looks at him sideways, rolls his eyes and say "What?! NO!" LOL

I didn't cry, which is good. I hate when people mourn like that in front of the sick person. They did that w E's mom when she was sick with lung cancer. Monty Python's "I'm not dead yet" needs to be shouted in that situation, but I never had the ovaries. :-)
