caged liberty's Journal, 12 April 2008

I have decided to only log in my weight loss and I havent experienced any weight loss for a week or two now. The kids had spring break and my husband also took time off from work to be with the family.

I dont know why, but I feel uncomfortable exercising or dieting in front of my husband. He is not the supportive type in terms of encouragement. He did fulfill my request to get a treadmill, but only because he kept saying I was getting too fat.

My kids know that I am dieting and they say nothing much to me. My oldest keeps telling me that its no point exercising because we are all going to die eventually, skinny and fat people alike. Well, he is a teen so I cant blame him for thinking such weird thoughts.

Funnily, its my own overweight pree teen daughter who is kind of supporting me. Though I am quite disciplined when it comes to eating, she will sometimes say to me..Mom watch out you know you are dieting!

I started off dieting because I wanted to lose weight. But after getting a weighing scale and discovering that my daughter is excessively obese, I want to show her that eating healthy can be done. I have asked her to watch out if I am overeating or eating junk in order to make her more conscious of what SHE eats.

I had stopped buying cookies but hubby kept bringing chips etc..into the house. I am normally housebound, but yesterday I insisted that he take me to the grocery store.

I spent half my time in the grocery isle, picking up fresh produce (lots of fruits and veggies!)

I then bought flavored water, instead of those disgusting sugary drinks kids normally drink.

I purchased a cart load of 100 calorie snacks to replace the junk food.

I found some low carb tortillas and bought wholewheat pasta products.

Lots of high fiber or low carb cereal bars.

NO ice cream, no cookies, no chips and NO sodas!!.

Everything else edible, I tried to get in low fat or fat free version.

I even told my husband that from now on, whatever comes into the house must be low fat, low cal or low carb.

I am back on track now..everyone has gone back to their daily routines so I can get back to mine. Lets hope that stagnation in my dieting also ends.
