Today is Day 4, Cycle 3 of being on the Extreme Fat Smash. I've been doing fairly well with both aspect of "dieting" - food and exercise. And I'm just frustrated I haven't lost more since I've been doing this over 2 weeks. I know normally 2lbs is a good amount to lose, but with this diet I just thought it'd be more since it (the XFS diet) promotes more. I know I've lost 3.4lbs in over 2 weeks. Why?!?!?! Arg. I know people plateau, but c'mon, I just started. And I really just need to vent my frustrations because I feel like I've been doing everything right, well maybe about 97%, but everyone has a couple off days. Blah, and I suppose I'm gaining muscle like I tell people and people tell me, but it's hard to notice when you have a belly roll when you sit down! And I know there's any number of reasons that I'm not losing, but that's logic and this is my body talking; I'm disappointed! Any ideas for a "better" diet for me?

I would recommmend a scale that measures your body fat %. That really helps me because a lot of times I can see a difference in my body but then I'm really disappointed when I have no loss at all, but then I see a drop in body fat. Also, you said you've lost 3.4 pounds, well you only weighed 127 to start with, so that's 2.7% of your total body weight in less than three weeks. That's how much they usually lose on biggest loser every week, and they're working out 24/7. I think that maybe your expectations are too high and you're being a little hard on yourself. However, I don't remember when you graduate, but I know that the ~first~ time I did south beach, I lost about 6 to 8 pounds the first two weeks. (Though, I have never lost any weight on south beach again). So, if you're looking for a quick fix for your graduation, Phase 1 of south beach might be an option.

Ditto what VicLynn is saying. Go for body percentage not pounds cos you are only little anyway.

Everyone does not lose at the same rate, and I have learned on this site that high weight losses right off are not as common as the slower weight losses. Be patient, you will get there.

Thanks you guys, that encouragement really helps. And on a brighter note I discovered I'm down a notch in my belt! VL: I do have one that measures body fat %, I really need to pay attention to it more! And I actually started at 128.4, not 127, but close enough. For some reason it shows 127 because I switched my diet here from fat smash to my own b/c it's not the extreme one. Anyway, I leave for NYC in just a few hours, I'm so excited, I'll have to let everyone know how it was when I get home. And I'll definitely weigh in for the contest on Sunday! I got a bit of exercise in walking the dogs today with my mom, so some is better than none!

Bib, you may not have consumed very many calories to begin with...so you've gotta reach for the stars now and burn the calories with sweat! my favorite saying, "each drop of sweat is a drop of fat!" :) hurry back!

If you are not eating enough calories, that will slow you weight loss down or stop it, so make sure you eat enough! That's something i have been reading about a lot lately. Eat small but frequent meals and your metabolism will get fired back up. Old news, I know, but it does work. My problem is remembering to time the snacks correctly.
