Hermiones Mom's Journal, 31 October 2016

So I already gained back a pound plus. It's OK, I know that when I suddenly drop 3 pounds, it's likely a substantial portion of that loss is dehydration and it will come back. But I think I'm OK with the idea that I probably actually weigh about 156. It's still 4 pounds less than I weighed at the beginning of the summer. So I should be satisfied with that. I'm hoping that my body is now ready to shed 14 pounds between now and February 13. That would be about 4.5 pounds in November, December and January. I know it doesn't sound like much of a challenge for most people, but for me, that's a lot of weight to lose, especially give that we're talking about the holiday season. So I will have to be very focused. One day at a time.

That sounds like a very reasonable plan. Approximately 5 pounds a month each month for November, December and January? You can do it! Just like you said, stay focused and take it one day at a time. You got this! :)

You are getting close to goal and those last few pounds come off slow. It is good that you know this and aren't setting yourself up for discouragement.

Rhontique -- every one of my pounds has come off slowly! But I have come to the conclusion that this is a very good thing. Because what's happened is that I've had a lot of time to really internalize the change in how I eat and how I think about food. That change gives me a lot more confidence that this really is the last time I will lose the same darn 50 pounds (although the scary part was that for the first time in my life, it wasn't 50 pounds, it was suddenly 90 pounds). Hey -- I'm going to be 65 in February, and I'm not sure I have enough time to lose all this weight again! This has to be the last time. Thanks for all the support folks. I really appreciate it.

We must be twins separated at birth! I will be 65 in February also. On the 8th.

As we age the weight loss is more about health than looks. we're saving our lives, and extending our days. You're doing good things for yourself! At this point 4.5 lbs a month seems ambitious. My weight loss has been slow too.

I like what Erika said about weight loss is more about health than looks. I couldn't agree more. While we all would love to look nice, that is human nature for goodness sake, I want to be on this earth much longer and all of us working on getting our bodies healthier will accomplish just that! Keep up the great work Hermiones, you are doing great and I for one love reading your posts and you are one of the people on here that keep me going and inspire me! :)

rhontique you old girl -- you're 5 days older than I am. My birthday is 2-13. But we both get to go on Medicare on 2-1, thank heaven! (I've had 3 insurers in 12 months). Thanks for the nice comments cheletourneau and as always erikahollister, you are so smart! But I do want to say: As much as I feel better with this weight loss, and all my numbers are great now, I have to admit, the fact that everyone who knows me tells me how great I look does not hurt either. In addition to losing the weight, I made another big change: I stopped coloring my hair, and it is now a lovely silver gray, and it actually is more attractive with my coloring than trying to keep it the brown-auburn color it once was. So overall, this transformation has been hugely positive for me, and I am going to fight really hard to hang on to it. I never want to do this again!
