I think I've struck the perfect balance between eating food I enjoy and losing weight. Until I reach "maintenance mode", I have eliminated all processed foods and sugars, including high sugar fruits. I do eat some low sugar fruits (berries), but in moderation. Lots of fresh and some steamed veggies (70%/30%) and protein and fat sources, mainly nuts/nut butters, fish, chicken (very little), tofu, olive oil, coconut oil, and grapeseed oils. No bread or cracker products of any kind, no sweets (cake, pie, snack cakes, bars) or sugars of any kind, no condiments which contains sugar (ketchup, bbq sauce, salad dressings) unless I make them myself. However, I have grown to LOVE veganaise! I have never been a soda/pop drinker, but I like unsweetened sparkling water with lime or a splash of orange juice...and when I say a splash, I mean no more than three tablespoons at best. The first four days of the new eating plan I went through sugar detox hell...crazy headaches and I almost said "to hell with THIS!" (lol). I felt like a drug addict. After the 4th day, I could feel myself leveling off. For now, I can see how my desire for sustainable food has increased and my craving for sweets have decreased, but has not totally disappeared. I've lost 6 pounds in less than two weeks without much effort and THIS is what motivates me. I don't prescribe this plan for anyone except me, but it's working. Do what's right for you and listen to your body. Cheers!

I know that sugar craving bit and am proud of you for pushing through the detox-have not taken that step yet but you inspire !
