Oh my hat, where do I start. Well let's start on the night I realised I was not invincible and realised I needed to make a change. Long story short, after a night of braai meat and Friday night drinks I tripped and fell, putting my hand through a glass door. It all ended in two ruptured tendons, a ripped open hand and an expensive surgery to repair my hand. I spent two months in a splint not being able to drive, tie my hair up or do much at all. I vowed to myself when the damn thing was taken off I would get fit!.

My hubbie and I are both South African expats living in Saigon, Vietnam. The Vietnamese women are naturally petite and beautiful,it was getting tiresome seeing these Asian beauties that would put most western models to shame day in and day out.

My weight has been up and down since leaving high school (having been a complete string bean then) and I've just accepted having a little extra padding over the last few years. Many diets have been done with little change or short lived results.

Hubbie and I both decided we wanted to start being healthy and get fit ( in both senses of the word). So this is actually my 4th week of dieting and my first week of recording my calorie intake.

My diet consists of 3 meals a day and 3 snacks a day which makes up 1200 calories. My diet is based on a mens health diet and exercise program obviously exercise and calorie intake has been tweaked to suit a women my height and weight. I know what you're thinking but it's the only way me and the hubbie could diet and workout together. He did the diet about 5 years ago and lost over 10kg in just a month.
Intense exercise 5 times a week is a must and alcohol is a big no no!

3 weeks in and I have lost centimetres but not on the scale. My bra's are loose and I am wearing clothes I haven't worn confidently in a while. The no loss on the scale is due to a set back I had a week and a half into my program, from a hip flexor strain. Oweeee! It was a mistake to think after a week of gym and not exercising for years that I could run 10km flat out everyday. Ha ha!, I could but not without a sports injury. Big wake up call Kiki, turning 30 next year and realised the body can't put out the way it used to.

Back at gym this week and being the only pilates customer in the morning slot the instructor has done pilates with me on monday, added weight work Tuesday and showed me fat loss exercises yestarday. Yiipppeeee! I have all the gym knowledge at my fingertips and I'm going to take advantage of it!. I normally have been doing cardio and weights. Thank goodness I have got used to healthy eating over the last few weeks and find the 1200 calories a day substantial when eating the right foods. Although, it hasn't been without a sweet craving here or there.

It's just the water intake I need to master now. I was informed on Monday that I needs to be drinking 3 litres a day and not the measly 2 litres I have been struggling with. I did find an android app that reminds you to drink water, it's been very helpful!.

So armed with a hell of a lot of information I need for this weightloss journey and a small result already achieved, I feel confident to get stuck in and start becoming a better me. I'm really looking forward to hearing from fellow sight users and hopefully sharing stories and support. (:
