dhstaples's Journal, 29 April 2014

I posted this in a forum or community, but this might be just as quick. I have a couple recipes (and creating a couple more) that are pretty good. But my ingredients aren't in the food list. Is there a way to add ingredients to the food lists here so that I can add my own recipes? Thanks all! :)

So here's what I do - in Excel I list the nutritional categories across, like calories, protein, sodium, etc. Then I list each ingredient and the nutritional information for that ingredient and specific quantity. When I'm done, I add all of the columns and then divide each total by the number of servings. It's not 100% but is awfully darn close (and this is much easier than it sounds once you get the hang of it). Then you can just add the dish to your food times. I did this for an avocado/yogurt salad dressing and some flaxseed muffins I made.

I do it all the time. Go to enter the food the way you normally would. When no item pulls up click the add new food link that will appear under the box on the left side. It will ask if you want to add it to the food database. Click yes and then enter away.
