Good Morning, FS Warriors! And what a fine Saturday morning it is, the sun is shining and it is 68F as I write. No deep and profound thoughts to share, just dropping in to make myself somewhat accountable to my buddies. Set the alarm for 6 this morning to give myself 8 hours sleep, and got up at 6:30. Hmmm, seems to be a trend developing here. It was in the low 50's out, so no need for a jacket, believe me, I generate lots of body heat when I run. Ran for 2 miles because that's what my training plan is calling for. It was still a struggle, but I felt stronger than yesterday. Part of the struggle comes from the still-tender quads, but I also noticed my pace kept creeping up higher than I had been running on the treadmill. Since my breathing was more labored, it was pretty apparent that I wasn't doing the easy run that I was supposed to do. Anyway, the graph proved my suspicions correct, when I saw my HR had reached a max of 166 BPM at the end of the run, and remained between 155 and 165 for most of the rest. Since, on the treadmill, I had progressed to being able to run 30 minutes with a max HR of 147, I'm pretty sure I'm pushing a little hard for an easy run.

After I had finished the run, fed the animals, and showered, I got the trike out and went into town for a fund raising breakfast. A friend of mine, who served in the Marines during the Viet Nam war, had narrated the events of his tours in Viet Nam to his brother, who wrote the book "Enemy Contact." I don't think the book was ever distributed, but it's in hardback. It appears to have been published by the writer himself. Anyway, to make a long story short, my buddy had about 1500 copies left, so he was selling and signing books for $10 to support the ball team for the local American Legion. We already had two of the books, but I wanted to show support for him, and for the kids' ball team, so I went. And, of course, I ate breakfast. Biscuits and gravy and eggs over easy. It appears that I am struggling with more than my running, huh? Well, anyway, a good time was had by all, and I got to get my trike out and make some noise to boot. So there!

Another 2 mile run scheduled for tomorrow morning and then a day of rest, or a rendezvous with Jillian again, on Monday. Just depends on how my quads are doing by then. In the meantime, it's a beautiful day outside, and I still have almost a whole day ahead of me, so I'm going to get outside and do something. Hoping everyone is doing the same, and not sitting at their computer reading this rhetoric. Toodles!

I do hope you get time to 'relax' and enjoy the weather. I remember one of our garden 'gurus' saying. Don't forget, to take time to sit and enjoy the fruits of your labour. That stays with me, although, I do tend to jump up and do stuff, the. I remember those words and sit for 5 minutes before getting up again lol. Don't strain those quads... It will only take longer to heal.

I think you're right, Pam. I'm going to take tomorrow off, and maybe even the next day. I've been through this before, and I know I get stronger a lot faster if I just let the pain completely go away before I push myself again.
