The Love of Fit's Journal, 30 March 2014

Ate my stress today - why do I keep doing this to myself. I don't want another week to no progress. I need another way to control night eating. I always tell myself, just go to bed. But this little devil tells me to stay up and watch one episode, which turns to two or three and so much snacking. That's my problem - I need to just go to bed.

730 - Spinning
930 - Cheerios and a Banana
1200 - Soup and Yogurt with granola
100 - Life Cereal
700 - PB Banana Sandwich and a Mango
1000 - Strawberries and Whipped Cream
1030 - Life Cereal and Dole Chocolate Banana (2)
1130 - PB Cheerio Bar

Total - 2075 (ouch)

Don't worry, there are things you can do to work out this problem. But some of them may be difficult (just at first) although they would really help. I see you eat a lot of refined carbs. This is something you should look to slowly change because not only do they spike your insulin and cause your blood-sugar levels to crash, making you hungrier, but some of them (the ones with high fructose corn syrup), despite not being high-GI, are converted directly into fat by the liver. My suggestion would be to slowly (and the keyword here is "slowly", try to replace those refined carbs such as breakfast cereals etc with natural carbs such as more fruit for example or other types of food (I'm big on nuts, cheese, milk, soup, berries, dried fruits, etc and, lately, I started eating carrots. They fill you up and are low on calories just like many other veggies). If it's natural, it's already a plus because it's not likely to have added refined sugar. Just this change would help you a lot reducing your calories and also your food cravings. :)

Other than that, I found that, what really helps me is exercising more (not more intensely, but more time). It really works for me to mix a little aerobic exercise with a little calisthenics. Doing it everyday (being consistent) makes ALL the difference :)

Also notice that, the fiber in the fruit stops the absorption of a lot of the sugar in it. You may already know all of this but there's no way for me to tell so pardon me if that's the case :D

Thanks! It's always nice to get more view points. I think I'm in this middle zone where I'm trying to be an all natural vegan but I can't afford it so I fall into cereals and breads that are on sale. Exercising more would be nice - I definitely eat less when I'm busy. Thanks again for all the tips!

I understand. It's double the difficulty when the cost of food gets in the way of our intended diet. I'm glad that you're trying to go in the natural direction! As long as you're doing what you can, that's the only thing that counts! :)
