Learning what foods are good for my body

This morning during an exam, I ate a doughnut after I consumed an orange and a small handful of raw nuts. I noticed that my heartrate seemed to go up from the sugar rush - I could definitely feel the rush. It made me a bit anxious during the test and it was harder to focus - that's how I noticed it was the sugar bomb. It was still subtle but there. And then about an hour later, I noticed my guts felt inflamed and irritable.. puffy-ish.
I always wonder about the correlation of irritable bowel disease and sugar -- whether it sends bacteria in your gut into a frenzy from all the yummy carbon sugar they metabolize and spurt their growth as they multiply and divide...the mucosal immune cells respond to the influx in bacterial populations.... causing some inflammation...T Regs tone it back down...some discomfort. Yes. I don't believe that's far off from the real events.

Anyway, Just FYI to Myself: don't eat sugar (bomb) alone, it makes you feel weird. Whole food (fruit) feels much nicer. Unless you do eat the sugar bomb, now you can anticipate the consequences. Yay for knowledge

P.S.

I ate Chipotle last night. First time in a long while. I think the extra slap of guac took a toll on my guts then too because within the half hour of eating, I felt the burning, gross pain in my intestine. The classic stomach ache. The kind you fear as a child because of how painfully icky it is. And I purposely divided the food in half so I could eat the rest for lunch the next day. But it made me feel horrible. Stuff was backed up. It did not feel nice. Now, this is something I can test - does this same feeling occur the next time I eat chipotle? is it because of a heavy fat-bomb from the guac? or something else? half-size portion still too big? the salsa (I favor the hot one). Hmm. Mysteries of my body.
