Rowanfair's Journal, 14 September 2010

I'm back at work today, but still kinda woozy and exhausted. *shakes fist at rhinovirus* Thanks to everyone for their encouragement yesterday when I posted about having lost 30lbs. I am just thrilled.

Just finished a package of Hormel's Italian Style Roast Beef. It is 15oz and thinks it has three 5oz servings. What it actually seems to have had is 10oz of beef and 5 oz of gravy. I threw the gravy out because is was too peppery. But I have to wonder if the nutritional info is reasonable if one just has 5oz of meat without gravy. The vagaries of actually weighing one's food.

I chose it out of a variety of packaged "pot roast" dishes because it had the fewest carbs. Being sick I thought a "pop it into the microwave for 4 minutes" sort of dinner sounded fab. Yesterday I didn't go to work because getting up and taking a shower and eating breakfast used up all my energy.

So far today I would say that I'm better as I got up, showered, ate and drove 25 miles to work. I am now sitting at my desk feeling like I really need to lie down. But I am going to try and at least make it to lunch. That is the problem of the long commute, it is very hard to come in "for a little while" when one is sick. The investment of the commute requires a certain level of wellness. OTOH, I love my job, have been here for 18 years -- so the commute isn't going away anytime soon one hopes.

Okay, guess I should stop rambling and try and concentrate enough to get some work done.

What a bummer --- you want me to bring you something tonight? I have some no carb chili cooking in crock pot --. I did find some pre-made "Italian" frozen meatballs that had faboulus low carbs, but now I forget who made them, I'm pretty sure I had them delivered from safeway however. for those nights when I'm too exhausted to cook and way too tired to go out. You're looking great, like I said!!!

Thanks everyone. I worked through lunch, so five hours in I'm going home to bed. Aww, Nette, you made chili! Go you! I think I'm supposed to eat out tonight with the R & our friend Zoe (if I'm feeling up to it) but thanks sooo much for the offer!
