RiverRes's Journal, 01 June 2016

I have been so busy packing, demolishing floors, going through and clearing out things that we don't need any more, that I am starting to really question whether we are ready for this. I tell myself that we started with the hardest thing first, but sometimes I wonder if it truly was the hardest. It was the den/office/all-purpose room where we put everything we didn't want to or have the time to deal with. Still ahead, we have floor demo in the master bedroom, painting, yard work, cleaning, and even more packing. The flooring won't be going in until the end of next week. The door won't go in until the end of the month which trashes my plan to take the furniture out that way. It looks like we will need to chain saw it after all. So much going on, and yet so many things are up in the air. Renovations stink.

And through all of this, I need to remain focused on eating right. Moving more isn't a problem - I have been averaging 20,000 steps and nearly 20 floors of stairs every day. Too bad I don't get stair credit for the dozens of times I climb a ladder or step stool during this process. And my weight is up according to the scale. I did lose inches throughout May, so that is helping me over this hump.

I need to keep my spirits and attitude up which seems difficult during this change. For some reason, I thought it would be easier and it seemed like everything was working out and falling into place last week. This week, not so much. I can't afford to take more time off at this moment. I am just hoping for the best. I wish I didn't just have a flashback to my co-worker's saying, "Hope is not a plan"!!

Hope? I call it positive thinking!! Agreed it might not be a plan, but where would we be without hope? We have been rebuliding the house for the last few years....its a slow process but when one project is finished I love to stand back and admire it and think: Yep it was worthwhile :)
