brucemcguigan's Journal, 06 April 2016

It comes down to all mental I think. When we think we need food we really do not need it. When we smell food we think we want to taste it but we do not need it. I am slowly learning that I have to eat to survive and not survive to eat. I used to joke that I was on a seefood diet. I would see food and eat it, well that really got me in a pickle.

Life is hard enough without the mental challenge to eat right and to try and stay healthy. I just want to thank my FS family for the support and for accompanying on this journey. Some days it is so hard to do it alone.

I am doing a new personal challenge. Call me crazy, I am calling it the five four three two one zero. The first day 500 calories, the second 400 calories and so on. All it is, is mental.

Whenever I bake cinnamon rolls it always pushes me almost to the breaking point, but your point is salient.

Dang you Suzy what a great idea, could also do 100, 200 up to 1,000 and then back down. That would be 20 days of eating and wow what an amazing journey that will be. Starting Monday I know what my next 20 day journey is going to be, thanks again for the wonderful idea.

very impressive....your food log is very low in daily intake...is that really how much you are eating....and weight loss chart proves it...like a noise dive...really great.

Nice job Bruce...I see you and your elliptical have developed a "beautiful relationship" too. Great trend line, determination and control, well done!!

I hope this is mental too. It is difficult to me yet. :(

Everything you said really hits home to me, Bruce. You are right, as we do weight control, we must exercise our brain first. For me, it's retraining my brain to say "stop... Enough!" But I am having my ups and down after I went on my carb binge last week. When I was strictly Keto for 5 days last week, it was much easier to avoid junk. Now, it's like I'm in recovery mode, it's so much harder especially at the end of the day! I think your 500,400,300... Plan is awesome, it will take a lot of willpower. What do you plan to eat on those days? What is your sample diet for the 200 day for example? Is it all lettuce and protein? I'm very curious on how you tackle going so low on those days!!
