Good Morning! I had planned to hydrate well yesterday and it seems I did it in excess because my sleep was disturbed about 4 times in the night to empty my bladder, interestingly enough I had no issues returning to sleep and I woke at 6 feeling rested and much lighter :) Who knows it might have simply been that low carb whoosh effect happening (Let us hope!)It was not only me apparently, every time I got up, my pup hit the floor too and rang the bells to go outside then we would snuggle back down till the next call of nature.

After my last nights post about bad habits and not weighing and measuring, I paid close attention to my coffee this morning and realized I was putting much more than 3 tablespoons of heavy cream in my coffees. I had just been doing ?dollups? ?heavy splashes?. At 1 carb per tablespoon that can add up pretty quick, so I am dropping one tablespoon all together adding only one teaspoon (measured properly) per mug of coffee and only putting one tablespoon in my bullet coffee. I suppose that is one of those hidden carb things you find when you log and measure your food. Time to go feed my bottle calves....life on a farm!

Just a suggestion...My wife & I are watching our carbs too. She's a heavy coffee drinker so we wanted to watch her carb's because she loves her half&half. We did find a substitute in Almond Milk as it's only 1 carb per 8oz's so if you use a TBSP then your only taking in .12 carb's...Now thats a major differance.

Unfortunately most almond milk contains carrageenan so read your labels before you buy and Google search the dangers of carrageenan.

I was having a problem finding a replacement for my coffee creamer as well, and I tried the Almond Milk. However, its not regular Almond Milk that you can use. If you are watching your carbs, you have to get the Unsweetened Almond Milk, and that stuff, *in my opinion*, is TERRIBLE! I bought a whole half gallon, and gave it away. I also started using heavy cream, but I found that most heavy cream has 1 carb per tbsp., but there was 1 brand I found that has ZERO CARBS! Land O'Lakes Heavy Whipping Cream is the key. Hopefully you can find it at your local grocery store.

Purple Sage, your posting is accurate in the dangers of carrageenan. However, alot of the diet products are or have ingredients that are claimed to be dangerous for example some sugar alcohol's are known to produce stomach cramping, dehydration and can cause you to be hospitalized. So sometimes we take the so called "chances". In my opinion as long as it's in moderation and not an abundance then it should'nt be an issue. Consider this, the unhealthy foods more then likely have more dangerous ingredients if you'd check out all the ingredients. But they won't tell you this because ofcourse junk food is the #1 reason why we all are here. Ofcourse this is my opinion and I do not want anyone to feel I am giving any type of advice or suggestions. I'm just stating what I feel in my opinion.

I've been using a Coconut Coffee creamer from Trader Joes. For those who don't have access to a TJs, I've seen a lot of receipes out there to make it. Many involve adding maple syrup or honey....but I'm starting to think just plain full fat coconut milk and a bit of vanilla will work just as good. IMHO the Almond Milk is too watery for coffee.

If you're LCHF, try getting rid of the cream all together and just use coconut oil blended in...great for getting rid of hunger and gives lots energy!

MPSARGE (Army?) I agree with you to a certain extent but *in my opinion the so called "healthy" foods can be just as toxic if you don't do proper research on the hidden and not so hidden ingredients. Some of the rubbish on the shelves claiming to be healthy are full of msg, GMO, pesticides, hidden sugar and synthetic ingredients that will eventually cause health concerns one way or another. ( I m not giving advice or suggestions either ..just saying) 😊 Rckc .. I agree coconut oil is the way to go

Purple Sage...Yes I am ARMY. I do thank you for bringing the subject to light. I do know exactly what you mean that alot of our health products eventually will cause health concerns. Every day something is found in human consumption or health/beauty products. So hard nowadays to know what is safe and what is not....I enjoy this site so much because of people like yourself whom come along with information and research. It helps many make decisions on their diet approach.

I make Magic Bullet fat bomb coffee every morning for the past 18 months, 8 oz coffee, two raw eggs, two tbsp. coconut oil two tbsps. heavy whipping cream, tbsp. unsalted butter, tsp vanilla, squirt of stevia, it makes a lovely frothy coffee drink that I used to pay like 8 bucks for at Starbucks. The heavy whipping cream gives it its creaminess, the eggs make a lovely froth. I was never a breakfast or lunch eater, my coffee gives me over half of my RDI and takes care of most of my daily fat and leaves a nice number to eat dinner on. But while I was away from FS, my coffee got lighter and lighter. Since I am tightening down on the carbs trying to get back on track I saw where I was adding portions without measuring them. Like I said, I have fat eyes and more is always better to me, so I must measure and I won't be losing anything but one carb and 50 fat calories...it's just a symptom of the casual way I started doing my WOE. Thanks guys for all of your input, every bit of information helps a lot.

Just for the record, the FDA allows a LOT of leniency and loopholes when it comes to accurately labeling our foods and supplements. Reading labels is good, however, food manufactures do everything they can to make a label look like it's good for you. If I compare 3 products that have the exact same ingredients and one label claims zero carbs while all of the others show 1, then the zero carb label is probably false. Anything with a green label or a big ALL NATURAL banner are suspect. Arsenic is all natural, but I don't care to have it in any of my foods. The fewer ingredients the better, if it comes in a box you are just playing Russian roulette with your health!

debrafrederick I agree the FDA, USDA and the CDC are all backed by huge companies that want us to be fat and sick, not lean and healthy. After all there's no profit in a healthy population and don't even get me started on labeling laws I will be on my soap box all night! 😡

Exactly right, there is no profit in a healthy patient, Big Food and Big Pharma are dancing hand in hand under the shower of millions of dollars that are spent to eat the poison and lies they dish out....better living through chemistry is killing us slowly and they are getting rich off of our fat and pain...I have a portable soapbox too, just wish I always had the ability to not be seduced by the addictions I've gathered over the last 50 years and faithfully practice what I preach. It's easy to see it, but standing your ground is difficult if you are constrained by lack. Lack of time to hunt for the better choices because they are not readily available, lack of money to purchase the better choices since they are more expensive, lack of support from family and friends who mindlessly believe everything they see on TV....the list of lacks goes on and on...I'll get there eventually.
