The good news? My husband didn't have to have the spinal tap as the doc said almost zero chance of meningitis. That was awesome news! The bad news? He's still really sick - the pneumonia actually got worse. He's still home, on antibiotics, but feels awful. He's been sick since the 2nd. (he's never sick) Neither one of us is sleeping - this is getting so tiring.

Hang in there, girl. Don't let this go. I've been where you are. I had a terrible bout of pneumonia and they gave me big antibiotics and sent me on my way. I just took them and thought I would get better. Not so much. I actually felt better but got worse! If he is not as much better as you think he should be, start being a polite pest at the doc's office. You have to be your own advocate. Good luck. If you need a shoulder send me an email. Blessings to you both. C.

Thank you, smartypants :D We've been to a minute clinic, the ER and our doctor's office twice in the last six days. We'll find out Wed. if he also has Valley Fever, which could be why he doesn't seem any better, despite the antibiotics (an IV with two antibiotics, a Z pak stopped after three days, another shot of antibiotics at the doctors, and a different prescription for antibiotics and now a cough suppressant). I know what you mean about needing to be your own advocate. I'd suggested Valley Fever to the ER doc but he immediately dismissed the idea. Luckily, our own doctors are more willing to investigate as he should have begun to feel a little better. Thanks for your understanding, it helps.

Morning RWL, I have never heard of Valley Fever...is this a type of pneumonia or something you can get in your area...like we get spotted tick fever here....Any way praying your husband gets better soon and you both can get some much needed rest...{{{{Hugs}}}}...Bren...♥♥♥♥

Hi Bren, thanks! I did sleep - man, did that feel GOOD! :D I took my "cocktail" of two Benadryl, a 5-HTP and a melatonin and that did the trick. I feel almost like a new person. My husband? Not so much :( Yes, Valley Fever originated in So Cal, but it's more prevalent here in AZ. Most people have it and don't know it, but some have severe complications for months. Let's hope and pray he isn't one of them! Have a great day, girl!

Oh hey, Bren! Sorry, I just haven't felt energetic enough to make any decent contributions here. We finally did get the blood culture back today and my husband does have Valley Fever as well as pneumonia. Lovely. So he'll be on anti-fungals for three months and he's on Prednisone for a week to hopefully kick start things and maybe help his headache go away, too. Poor guy is exhausted. I wish that damn ER doc had listened to me 10 days ago and tested him for it. At least he'd be a week closer to feeling better. I knew that guy was a jerk. Oh well, he's being treated now, so now it's a matter of waiting and praying. I just hope to see him get a little energy back - it's so hard to see him exhausted just by coming down the stairs, you know? But you can give ME a hard time any day! :D Hope all is well with you.

Hi Yvonne - yes, it's easy to overlook the good news sometimes. Thanks for reminding me what that was! lol... I hope he gets better quickly. My daughter's friend was sick with it for over a year and on the anti-fungals for a year, too. That would suck. But I guess you do what you have to do. Thanks for the reminder and for the hugs :D
