OTB, I've been adding 2 cups of milk each day to help. And I have a sugary drink for lunch. My body is just fighting me. Hopefully, it will get easier soon. If not, these next few months will be Hell.

YOH, yes. I'm trying to put on some muscle, but I'm struggling to get the calories in. It's hard eating over 4k cals (hard for me).

TUD, what about loaded milkshakes/protein shakes? Back in the day (daughters daddy was a pro heavyweight bodybuilder - era the 80’s-90’s) thats one of the things he would do. Make a big milkshake and load it with protein and fruit and ice cream. You can get a large calorie hit that way. I know thinking may have changed in the decades since then.

I'm sorry you are having such a hard time! It sucks when you set a goal and your body won't cooperate! Don't have much advice but lots of support !

Its supposed to be hell, gaining good quality muscle is always harder than stripping off fat. Eating healthy foods in a calorie surplus is way more difficult than just binging on junk. I feel your pain TheUnhealthyDaddy, do you need 4000 calories are you trying to gain a certain size irespective or are you still trying to be able to see your abs. 4000 calories is alot of calories, you entering a pro show and going to the open class :).

Eat nuts. Lots of healthy fat, some protein and plenty of sodium electrolites.

Wayne, I'm just trying to get to 210lbs by Feb. I'm 194lbs now. Abs are covered by a good 12lbs of fat. However, that's where I store it. My arms and legs are still vascular with 2-5mm on the calipers. So, I just have to deal with no abs during the bulk. My maintenance calories are 3800 so I'm just shooting for 4200. But I've finally gotten tired of chicken. I don't even want to look at it.

I get that way during the heat and have to force myself to eat. I don't know how you do it getting that many calories in!! I know what you mean about the chicken. We bought some new rubs and seasonings at the farmers market Saturday to make some changes.

Use lean or semi lean ground mince much easier to eat when I go to maximum muscle mass is switch a lot of my chicken to chicken and mince. Also the mince is easier on my jaw than the steak eating so much steak is hard on my jaw. Keep going and if you are tired of eating you are in a good place means you are eating the right meals I would say mix eggs into the mince and try that. Yup putting on muscle mass through eating cleanly is much more difficult than cutting so well done in what you are trying to do. Keep us posted . How many meals a day are you eating?

Mince is another term for ground beef 🤓 The legs are looking good

clean up your diet. eat fast digesting food. that will be the most beneficial thing. if your still digesting your last meal come next meal it's a struggle. also walking 10min after each meal if possible will also aid in digesting food and control the glucose spike if eating high carbs. this helps me when I'm pounding the calories.

Unhealthy Daddy just think about how hardcore those leg gains are going to look like when you hit 210 lbs don't forget to post pics, everytime you need to suck down those extra calories 🤗.I will be starting my gain focussed time around February so keen to see, I will also be hitting 47 years old GOD willing so whoop I am excited. Keen to see other dads improving on FS.

Thanks, guys. Yes, I usually eat 80/20 with 80% being clean. Lately, it's been bad (about 60/40) just to get calories in. I don't know if my body will allow me to gain the muscle at my age, but I'm gonna try. I just don't want to cut again and be disappointed. I'm hoping for the best. And hopefully I will put up some good numbers on my lifts.

How old are you UnhealthyDaddy?
28 Aug 23 by member: New_Wayne
I'll be 45 in a few months. Halfway to 90, and my body feels it at times. 😆

45 although the gains will be slowing down you can certainly still keep growing and improvingJust be careful of injuries now. There are quite a lot of athletes training and competing into their 50s and some into their 60s
