I absolutely LOVE 🍐!! Had pear trees growing up in Iowa. None where I live now (Arkansas). You are blessed!!

We plan to top them this winter, we let them get too tall and it's really hard to pick the fruit from a 25 foot ladder in the back of a truck. I got knocked on the head by a few fruits. I might would worry about not having a crop next summer by doing that, but when I get these blanched and frozen. I may not need any next year . This is a lot of pears. Hubby estimates it at about 300 pounds. We still have a tree to go the heat got to us and we had to stop!

Yeah you gotta get it shorter for sure. Had to do that with my plum tree so I can reach almost all the fruit with a step ladder. That tree is huge! Do you make one of those pear tarts that you flip upside down to present it?

No, I actually don't cook pastries and tarts, thank goodness or I would be as big as the side of a house. I do however love them blanched and filled with some sour cream and cheddar cheese. I also add them to cobblers, they mix well with berries, apples and peaches.

Usually do the cobblers at Thanksgiving and Christmas, summer time cobblers require topping with icecream and well......it's best I don't go there!

Yeah, it's tough to have fruit growing in abundance when you're low carb and fasting. My yard is full of blueberries, blackberries and raspberries. At least it's a good magnet for the grandkids.

Erika, we shipped 31 lbs to hubby's sister in Texas, 8 lbs to my daughter in Jacksonville, blanched and froze about 30 lbs and hauled the rest to the Post office where I handed out grocery bags full to my customers who were interested in them and the trees are still half full!! Too many!!!
