In my neighborhood it is averaging about $6.49–$6.89. Shortages and rationing in our future I’m afraid. Memories of 1973. Here we go again. Wait till the wheat and sugar shortages hit us.

What do they do if it hits $10 and they run out of numbers on the display?

More people riding bikes, ride sharing, etc. We've seen it out here in Southern New Mexico and not many tourists, as in previous years. Tough ride, indeed. 🙁

Imalittlefluffie -- I have indeed started walk commuting again. It's about 1.3 miles each way, so I'm getting exercise more consistently. The gas prices were a definite incentive!

If predictions are correct the average for the east/south will hit $6-7,

Brigit0– come fall we will really feel the effects of the war— limited wheat. And I believe India put us on sugar rationing as of June 1. That was their intent anyway.

MorticiaAdams— something has been done—- we voted agains the KeyStone pipeline which would have increased our oil independence, but it came with potential increased environmental impact. Can’t have both. Well, we are going to get what we voted for.

how did this site about improving your life turn political? these discussions belong on social media platforms. maybe people come here to get away from these subjects. moving forward I will only document my food and weight.

TrishL—- there are many people on this sire who don’t follow the news or social media. We have a serious food supply and food chain issue coming down the pike that will drastically effect our ability to afford the food we would like to eat but to also make many things available in limited Quantity only. Do you remember the TP crisis? This is a good time to assess what we choose to eat, the WOE we are working with and see if it can be tweaked for greater sustainability in a crisis. if you are spending a significantly greater sum of money on gas will you be able to buy grass feed beef, hand fed by French virgins?. This is about real life proactivity, not politics. . These issues, like it or not, affect how we will be able to feed our families and still provide nutritious meals. Bury your head in the sand if you like or just scroll on down.

Kenna, you are so right. Decisions will certainly be more impactful on our everyday lives. I'm glad to still have my stash of beans and other staples. So glad my husband and I are comfortable living a simple life, but we have already canceled our Christmas trip to see family, due to how prices have gone up. Also, we are attending an important wedding, so couldn't do both wedding and Christmas. These are not huge life-changing decisions, like some have to make, but I do believe we all have to now, or going to have to down the line, start making some hard either/or decisions. "Fail to plan and you plan to fail".

Kenna Morton that is a redicuous statement. Don't make FS people look stupid.
