redwinelover's Journal, 25 October 2010

Hi Buddies! Today is another day...and believe it or not...it feels almost cold! Which is such a pleasant change from the intense heat and interminably long summer. I'm feeling stronger today, a little more mobile and slightly easier to get up. Not much, but I'll take it. Sitting down is so much easier. I think I spend four hours conked out in the recliner, wake up either because of pain or having to pee (usually both!) and wish I'd awakened earlier to give the pain meds a chance to kick in.

So, today is Day 5 of recovery. Wow...wouldn't want to repeat those first five. Today I feel like I just may live. Before this, I was sure I was just gonna leave a good lookin' corpse! Klannoye nicknamed the doctor Art Teest and DAMN! He is! I'm not bragging ... oh, that's a load of crap, I AM TOO bragging - he does some AWESOME work! Got a good look standing up today, saw all of my chest area and most of my abs, even the incision which does not have the steri-strips on to cover it, and damn! It's exactly as he said - the scars (which will fade in time) will pale in comparison to the results. I do believe he's right. I'm so glad it's over...just a long, long healing process ahead. I'm still here and as I need fewer and fewer drugs, I'll be reading journals and commenting on them and hoping to hear from you all. Take care!

Hey, RWL, so glad to see you here and amongst the living!! I understand the pain, with the exception of the chest part, but I also had the lipo at the same time! Just take it easy, and rest, and before you know it you'll be up running around, and playing with Shawn T. Take it one day at a time, don't try to do too much too soon, dear friend. Glad that you are happy with the results. It is an amazing thing to see, isn't it? :D

Hi RWL! So glad to hear from you and so glad to hear you're getting better! You'll be up and getting around before you know it! Something I did after my hysto surgery was set my cell phone alarm so I wouldn't sleep so many hours and wake up in such intense pain. Maybe that would work for you too. I hope you feel better soon!

Hi RWL ~ OMG, look what has happened while I was absent. Long story, not the best. But you ~ whooo what happened here. I didn't know you were doing this. I saw your pics. You looked great on the bathroom photo, can only imagine now!! I understand the healing/pain parts (went thru this with my mastectomy), but am really glad to hear you are doing so well. Are you telling what was done or should I go back to your journals. I really was out of touch. Hope this post finds you feel far better and far less pain. You go girl!!

hottagain - cell phone pictures take YEARS off the face! But give your fiance a big thank you hug from me! I can almost get out of the chair by myself tonight :) Thanks so much for the prayers - keep 'em coming! Long road ahead, but so, so, so worth it at this point! Thanks!

Hi ctlss....you are so right about the pain, and yeah, I had some lipo done, too. I've been told no dates with Shaun T for probably 3 whole months... have to start off slowly. But that whole working out thing seems so far away. Standing for 20 min seems to wear me out at this point. But doing SO much better than yesterday. And food tastes good again. Kind of wish THAT might have taken longer! But I guess it's all for good healing. And happy with the results? So far - over the MOON! I really can't imagine even extensive scarring is going to make me wish I'd not done it. Night and day. From neck to hips. Sore, retaining lots of those fluids that I was just told from the surgeon's office are to help aid in the healing process. My brain is still sort of addled, hopefully just from drugs and anesthesia, and not killed cells (!), but I did measure my waist the morning of surgery and it was 27", now it's 29", but looks awesome. So I'm assuming those two inches will disappear and my waist will look even more small. Big decision, pretty vain, but so glad I made it. I can't even describe how much more feminine I feel. Thanks, Stef, I'll continue taking it easy. I think I'm pretty good at being lazy! :)

Youngbug...what a brilliant idea! I think I'll do that - have that pill ready to go and maybe it'll kick in by the time I really have to pee. :D SO worth a try! Today is much better than yesterday... I think yesterday was almost more difficult than the day after surgery in some ways. All is good, recovering well. I may be able to get my drains removed in a couple of days. Which means... A SHOWER!! How good will that shower feel?? Thanks for checking up on me!

Hi Next Number! I read some of the trouble you'd had before my surgery on the 20th. I'll go through journals maybe tomorrow as I feel stronger. Yeah, I kind of sprung the news on people. I didn't want to face a storm of nay-sayers or those thinking I'm silly. Thanks for saying the bathroom pic looked good. Clothes are like good paint - hides a multitude of sins! lol... For the record, after losing that weight, I ended up looking like people who've lost over a hundred pounds! I have very thin skin, sun damaged skin, inherited bad skin, had years and years of both yo yo dieting and every stupid weight loss pill or potion out there. And probably due to thyroid and other hormones not being well balanced, no elasticity to my skin. So everywhere you can sag, I seemed to sag. So I wanted a breast lift and augmentation (4 pregnancies, two births and breastfed for 27 months total - took one helluva toll on those "working breasts"!)and a tummy tuck with a bit of lipo. The doc said he'd have to do very conservative lipo on my thighs due to all the "irregularities" and sagging so as to not make it worse. He was going to do inner and outer thighs, and the lipo on the flanks that practically goes hand in hand with a tummy tuck. He did say he didn't lipo much out, but I said as long as he sucked out the deflated fat cells, I'd be good, too. So there is so much swelling there I can't tell what difference it may have made. I was told it will take weeks for the swelling to really go down and a full 6 months before the final results of the lipo are seen. BUT not to get too excited - there won't be any miracles there! (brutally honest!) But from what I've been able to see - he's virtually an artist! Or, as my sweet friend klannoye calls him Art Teest. Well, my burst of energy is gone for now... thanks everyone for your kindness and support. It means SO much to me! Tomorrow I'll be stronger. <3

hey RWL! So glad to hear you are doing better, I was just thinking about you the other day. One day at a time and before you know it you will be back up and moving like nothing happened!

RWL, 3rd day after is always the worst. And be prepared, when they pull the drains, it will sting a bit. He didn't warn me, simply said, "Oh this won't hurt a bit." He lied! So take a pain pill before you go! Take care dear friend.

Oh yea Stef, I forgot about those drains. What a pain, literally. One hurt a little bit, one hurt much more (this was the boob thing). But what a relief. Had to drain and measure every day, Ugh! Anyway RWL hope you feel spiffy soon. Take care and do not overdo anything! Be well.

I'm glad to hear you're doing better. I had no idea you were doing this, guess I must have missed it. Can't wait til you're back on your feet and can send some pictures.
