Ashley Sewards's Journal, 21 January 2019

So, I've gained 8 pounds in 49 days, so like a month and a half. I'm not happy about this. I have found myself eating just about whatever I want. I'm in a depression, and when I'm depressed I use food as comfort. Ever since I had my gallbladder removed, I have been in constant pain with my chest. And about 10 other symptoms have developed since my surgery. I just am so sick and tired of not feeling well, and the doctors I have seen haven't been helpful at all. They don't know what's wrong. Most days I just don't know how I can go on. But I do know I need to start watching what I eat again. It's cold out right now, so I really can't go out and walk, that's basically all the exercise I do, so I feel like I'm not getting any exercise at all. I'm just in a bad place right now.

I am so very sorry you are going through this difficult time. Depression really stinks. Be patient and kind to yourself in the acceptance of where you are. Go ahead and focus on your diet if you can. As it may be helpful for your selfesteem, health and depression. Success and working on just one thing right now, may eventually give you a lift from some of the depression after a while. I have been where you are. 🌺 Best wishes.

This spoke to me, Ashley...I've been there. The good news is that you are aware, and want to do something about it. This is just storm you are in right now...and storms always pass...always. Today is cold...but tomorrow may not be. Or the next day. But, just as we know that summer will come, so will sunny days in your life. Keep going !

Right there with you...just a silly thing but have they tested for blood clots? I developed a "mystery ailment" after an illness and they never tested me for it...until I actually had an embolism. Apparently they are much easier on you if they get caught before that happens. They mentioned that having a recent surgery can sometimes cause this... just something to look into.

In the big scheme of things, 8 lbs isn't all that much considering where your head space has been and especially how far you have already come. Posting this means you are already taking back your power. You've got this. A little bit of back-tracking on the scale isn't a failure, just think of it as having taken a side trip on the scenic route during your journey. We all need those every now and then to remind us that the rains will always come, the sun will always rise, and we will continue to experience life one moment at a time, no matter how overwhelming the possible future moments might be.
