So today I start the 10 Day green smoothie cleanse by J J Smith. This would be my 4th attempt (I think). I have only managed to go to day 6, then gave up because I experienced headaches. I have been trying to do this for a few weeks now but because it is summer, every weekend is a bar b cue or a dinner event to attend. So my husband suggested to just start it and if I mess up one day, just do the smoothies the next day.... so here I am. This Saturday will be a birthday dinner, so I will skip one day. DAY 1... almost complete!

Hi I’m no expert but I have heard that doing those smoothie detox are not such a great idea? You will be so hungry all the time. I have lost 20 pounds in less than 5 months by reducing calories and walking and I get to eat and don’t feel hungry or irritated.

I agree that it doesn't look like a healthy way to lose weight. Those protein levels are much too low. I'm reducing calories to under 1000 a day and walking and I'm losing slowly and not feeling hungry or deprived and certainly I never have headaches. I've lost thirty pounds in just over four months with simple lifestyle changes. I must admit that having a social life presents some challenges to the diet. I eat what's offered and then get back on track the next meal.

Thanks for the concern and general engagement. It's for 10 days or less. There's a full cleanse (3 smoothies) a day or a modified version (2 or 1 smoothie) per day. The ingredients are touted to represent a balanced meal and help to flush the system. I guess the headaches came from hunger... I wanted to do a detox without the chemicals. So i thought going green would do the trick.

Just so you’re aware, your body doesn’t need to detox. Your liver is in charge of flushing bad things out of your body. But maybe you’re doing this as a pallet cleanser or a way to start making healthy choices. From what I’ve read, most cleanses are basically starvation. Please be safe and mindful and full of self-love!
