Hi, I'm Val. For starters, I am a vegetarian and a runner. That's two things you'll know about me within ten minutes of meeting me. I also love yoga, and have been practicing for about two years (well, much longer than that, but I started getting SERIOUS about it two years ago). My whole life I'd never really felt "in shape" until this year. When I hit my perfect level of BMI I was ecstatic. To be honest, I can't realistically see me ever weighing any more or any less... EVER. So now I'm trying to maintain and still run. Run faster. Run farther. And it's not easy. But it's so worth it.
I get overly excited about little things like cinnamon flavored toothpaste or vegan ice cream. I provide encouragement for anyone looking to be healthier. The thing is, is that if I act excited because you've lost a pound, I really AM excited. I want to help people more than anything else in the world. I've never met a person that I couldn't say at least one good thing about.
I think that's all for now. You can read my journals to get to know me better. Talk to me, send me a buddy request. Ask me advice, I'll try to tell you the best I know (but be prepared for a wordy reply because I talk A LOT).
Have a healthy and happy life! <3

Low Carb Fast Food Options
hey, I know I could never do it. I hold potatoes near and dear to my heart (and stomach). Pasta with marinara is my favorite food. I'm a vegetarian so my diet is largely carbs. But if this is what feels good for you and is a diet you can stick to, then I'm here to help and encourage Smile

Low Carb Fast Food Options
Subway has salads, and if you're wanting a sandwich you can ask them to actually scoop out the bread crust (this will save you lots of carbs). Pretty much any fast food place has a side salad so you can get that instead of fries. Definitely skip soda of any kind (even the diet kind will make you CRAVE sugar), and head straight for the water, which is, by the way, usually cheaper. You can eat the burger out of a burger that you order and throw out the bread. Just be sure not to eliminate veggies from your diet. Good luck, and be proud of yourself for making the decision to prevent becoming diabetic. Smile

Why Intuitive Eating Wouldn't Work for Me
FullaBella, Thank you for the compliments Smile
Maybe when I get confident to trust my body's natural hunger again I will stop calorie counting. It's not getting in my way or bothering me for now, so I consider it to be working. Smile
Usually my family warns me when I start to look too slim lol. Then I weigh and I realize I am getting a little low.
Thank you for your input

Why Intuitive Eating Wouldn't Work for Me
I like knowing what I eat as well. If I didn't like it, I wouldn't do it. Life is too short to do things that make you miserable.
kingkeld, your weight loss is incredible! 73 kg! great job!
eKatherine, 63 lbs is also fantastic! Smile
Have a healthy and happy day everyone!

Why Intuitive Eating Wouldn't Work for Me
I just really am at a good, healthy weight and I don't want to lose any more.
I'm saying counting calories has not messed up my mental health in any way. I don't deprive myself of anything I want and I don't think that people should try to make other people feel bad for wanting to know the calories in their food.
If intuitive eating works for you, that's great. It's a healthy lifestyle that you can maintain. If counting calories works for me and doesn't bug me, I don't see why people should make me feel bad about it. It's a healthy, maintainable lifestyle.
