It has been a different sort of week around here. Last weekend I spent showing my friend around town and entertaining her. Less than stellar food choices, I admit...although I could have done much worse. She and I split some of the more questionable choices though, so I only had small portions of French fries and some Mexican restaurant appetizers. She was barely on her way back home when we had an ice storm and I was iced in at home for two days. No exercise....well, except I did shovel my walk and drive once, resulting in a lot of soreness in my bad hip. The only day I could have walked this week was Thursday and it didn't happen because I had doctor appointments....and there was threat of snow on Friday so I needed to get groceries as well. I am so thankful I did get groceries because the snow early Friday was much more than anticipated and I am once again stuck at home.

Not the makings of a good weight loss week...so imagine my surprise to find I had lost 2.2 lbs this week! That takes me to 21 lbs lost dince Dec 11, and I am extremely close to my next "mini goal" of 220. I needed that inspiration this weekend, as I have found it hard to keep myself from snacking on junk while stuck indoors all this time. I have resisted, but the temptation has been great.

It has been a busy week, resulting in my not checking in here as much. The up side...I see that I have lost about 1.5 lbs this week so far (one more day to go before I record it, hoping it doesn't spike up).

I'm preparing for a friend visiting from out of state this weekend. It has kept me very active in preparations, and showing her around town will be quite a workout with lots of walking. It also means eating out a lot, though, which means more sodium and fat than usual in my diet. I'm hoping the activity will be enough to offset the extra calories.

Found a smoothie combo that I love, and it's only running around 200 calories...pineapple, mango, orange, and kale. I'm going pretty heavy on the kale. Usually have this as a mid-morning snack...it keeps me full until lunch, and it takes the pressure off of me trying to fit in enough fruits and vegetables. I still make sure I have veggies with lunch and dinner, but I don't have to stress it so much.

Didn't increase my distance walking this week. I wanted to, but had some hip pain earlier in the week that concerned me. I also didn't want to risk injury with my friend coming this weekend. Would feel terrible if I wasn't able to show her around. Will see how I'm feeling Monday, may increase the distance next week.

Wow, down almost a lb (.8 to be exact) from yesterday. I'm not sure what has my weight loss suddenly picking up steam the last few days but I'm all for it.

I did well at Applebees yesterday, stuck to the light menu and went with the peppered sirloin with whole grains for 350 calories. Stuck to my plan all day, except I did have one glass of red wine in the evening (still finished the day with a few hundred calories left). I'm not much of a drinker, really, maybe one or two a month...and if you're going to have alcohol, red wine is the way to go (health and calorie-wise). I didn't get as many fruits and veggies as I like, though, so today I already had a smoothie to get a good jump on it...kale, pineapple, mango and banana.

Only challenge I'm worried about today is going to the movies. When I smell that popcorn it's hard to resist the call...
