It's been a while since I sat down and wrote anything for a journal. my diet tracking has been hit and miss, exercise none existent. I have been battling diet depression- it's not enough to up my prozak but I have no spark, don't want to plan, eating in a rut turns to eating whatever, running the kids around for sports stuff eliminated my work out time. i was denied by the life insurance policy people because I have to many healthy risks, and my husband says- next year it will be different, but really- what's going to be different unless I make it different? little steps- today, after work I turned off my cell and went to the gym - if they can't call me, they can't interrupt me. My husband can handle the after school run around taxi service. He is trying to be supportive and had dinner in the crock pot. I could whine and whine all day- i just don't think it will do any good. I was eating lunch with my friend and it occurred to me that I love food- eating gives me joy- not a good position for a dieter- except my other friend, who has struggled with eating disorders pointed out that I need to learn how to find joy in the healthy aspects of food and exercise- how do I do that?

It's nice to be home. there were several pitfuls with an extended family camping trip. it was communal eating, with the aunts in charge of menu planning. I had asked to be included so i could plan healthy but that didn't work out so well. my back up plan was to bring my own choices. I knew we would have fried bread one night so i planned to substitute a grilled chicken. the first night, i came back from my walk to find the chicken ( all of it) being grilled for dinner. the second pitful was that everything was stored in ice chest. my salad didn't make it past day two. we did have great summer produce, as one of the aunts stopped by a produce stand, and then costco. so i had corn, real fruit, strawberries watermelon and cantaloupe at each meal. food diary didn't work- by the time i remembered it, it was dark out, to dark to write. my pediometer broke on day twos hike. BUT the weather was fantastic, it rained really hard the day we left. it was great fun seeing my kids play with their cousins, and second cousins, and third cousins. we went to an amusement park, boating and swimming at the lake, frisbee golf and great hiking. I tried to avoid the controversial discussions and had lots of quiet reading time.

my weight stayed the same, so no damage. i really appreciate indoor plumping and my real bed.
