This last week was incredibly unusual and stressful. Hospital visits, anniversary celebrations and monthly visitors. All in all, I'm just happy to have maintained. Dropping even a pound is a bonus.

My strategy of eating foods I genuinely enjoy, rather than those that are "good" or "best" for losing weight, seems to be paying off. I find that I am much less hungry, and I don't have that feeling of deprivation that I have had the last several times when I've tried to diet. I've got a couple of major events coming up that might be a challenge, but I feel I'm up to it.

I'm trying not to think too hard about it this time. I'm eating my favorite foods (MY favorite foods, not just the ones my husband likes), sticking to something simple, adding in exercise when I feel I'm ready for it (not just doing it because everyone says I should), and basically just trying to remember how it was when I first lost all my weight. I keep thinking that I couldn't have been so obsessed then with seeing the pounds melt off, the clothes fit better, the stomach flatten. I knew then that it would be a long, gradual transition. I'm thinking that I need to have the same kind of tolerance for the process here as well. I doubt I will see any kind of weight loss next week because of some cyclical bloating, but hopefully by the start of August I'll see some genuine movement on the scale.
