I have been heavy all of my life thanks in part to my Polynesian heritage (Hawaiian and Samoan). In my thirties I was fit and active, weighing in around 380 lbs. I played volleyball, danced hula, paddled Hawaiian outrigger canoe, etc.
My increased age (turning 57 in 2019) coupled with a prolonged sedentary lifestyle is threatening my life. My heart specialist asked me, "How many 60-year-olds do you know your size?" Bam! Straight to the gut. I say, "None." Then silence for effect.
