If you are interested in "meeting the Buddha" and following his example, then you should realize that the path the Buddha taught is primarily a study of your own mind and a system for training your mind. This path is spiritual, not religious. Its goal is self-knowledge, not salvation; freedom, not heaven. And it is deeply personal. Without your curiosity and questions and your open mind, there is no spiritual path, no journey to be taken, even if you adopt all the forms of the tradition.

Here is a goal, cut back on snacking and drinking when we are with
friends. I am setting my limit, 2 drinks, and vegtables without dip only. Lets see how this goes.
Sounds easy?
Not so, we live in a second home community where entertaing is the major past time and drinking the sport of choice.
Also, got to stop putting of starting training for the October race.

August for the most part is a month of mixed blessings. The birds have stopped singing in the morning, temperatures sore during the day,and the hummity is high. The vegetable garden, however, is at it's peak this month. The eggplant, okra, squash, pole beans, tomatoes, pepers, and corn are all ripe. This is the season of good eating.
Marcia and I eat our own produce at most meals this time of year.
We grow much more than we can consume in our garden(0.3 acre with grassed paths).
We think gardening is a great it requires knowledge, planning, consistant attention, and the rewards are relative to how the afore said are carried out.
I plan to use the same principles I use in gardening in my personal diet. Already I have learned about calories and their afftect on my weight, I have a goal of losing 7 pounds and holding my weight there. My plan is to develop consistent, informed eating habits and Fatsecret is a good tool for me.
