Breakfast much more temperate. Bad surprise: seriously bitter raspberries, so season is over till summer. Will make sauce from them: normally reflexively put over ice cream, but it will be angel food cake tonight despite DH'2 sad eyes. He needs to lose about 20 lbs., anyway, but so loves his food! Very diet-resistant, but doesn't try to tempt or sabotage me at all.
Tomorrow a new weight will be published. Should be roughly the same.

Eating more fruit: banana and apple yesterday. The apple was an Arkansas Black, a winter variety I've only seen at Whole Foods. It is very, very crunchy and has a slight brown sugar taste, at least to me. Now we have run out of fruit, so will get some Satsuma tangerines, strawbs, bananas. Hate pears and figs. Summer is better for fruit.

Drinking water more. A little juice glass is manageable. If I have a whole huge 18 oz. glass, it's too much and I don't drink it.

Often it's not the food itself, but size, preparation, way it is served which can make the difference between wanting and not wanting it.

YIKES!!! Somehow I'm not hungry today. Guess why. I don't normally eat that much. Usually no cake around. Must cut down on nice large chunk of brioche bread in the morning--sheesh, just where does that blueberry jam go? Note: all cookies @ 110C, highest calorie ranking of all these Italian Cookies con Amore I eat, so calorie entries could be higher and not lower. The things are addictive, especially these shaggy little white numbers that seem to be made of ground almonds and powdered sugar, melting in your mouth while sending you to almond heaven.

Not in a bad mood yesterday, doesn't drive eating. Taste does: ice cream, caramelized cake: taste and texture take over, weight loss forgotten! I'm like one of those rats that react to sugar like morphine. Morphine can be avoided, though, and food can't. I did get morphine once as an epidural during delivery. It made the steel gurney I was on feel like the best feather bed ever. It's disconcerting to find out that the brain processes sugar in about the same area. I'm mentioning all this because it makes clear just what type of challenge cutting back on sugar is. It's huge and very, very hard.
