It's been a tough few weeks. I caught the flu and hubby ended up with covid and bacterial pneumonia again. I cancelled my teeth cleaning and my yearly follow up with my nephrologist. So annoying as it is so difficult to get appointments. Thankfully we're both on the mend. Haven't taken down the Christmas decorations and my house is driving me crazy. I have to get things cleaned and organized.
I usually make scones using cold butter cut in by hand. But I had some heavy cream that needed to be used. Made these chocolate orange scores in my food processor using the cream. They are very tasty. Made 24 so froze most of them.
Have dropped a little bit of weight. Am going to get my exercise bike out and put it in the living room. I can pedal while watching TV.

gaining 1.7 lb a week

Another Christmas come and gone. We had a very nice low key day. We're still celebrating with our individual families. My sister doesn't need to be exposed to any stray germs. She is doing well and the doctor says only 3 more weeks of daily wound changes. I am wondering after 3 years if we'll go back to everyone getting together. The days of 32 people for dinner may be a thing of the past. We're getting up there in age and none the children seem interested in hosting these big dinners. In their defense, none of them have homes large enough.
I am considering buying an artificial Christmas tree. The weather prevented us from going to the cabin to cut trees. So our tree this year was a ceramic tree I got from my grandmother. Could have gone to one of the tree lots, but didn't do that either. We were just too busy taking care of cattle. I'll take the grand kids in and see what's available.
Hope all of you had a wonderful Christmas.

Opened the door this morning to another 5 inches which is unusual when it's this cold. Low tonight is minus 72 with the wind chill! The cattle are circled up and voicing their unhappiness. It's a very melancholy sound that carries for miles in the cold, clear sky.
Really didn't want to go into town, but we both had doctors appointments. I've been having problems with my right eye. Found out I have a crease in my retina and an infection. The grand kids have that new strep variant and are pretty ill. Mom had a difficult time getting amoxicillin for them. I find that scary and so totally unacceptable.
We have lots of very wealthy neighbors. They just love buying up real estate. Plus I think they enjoy the scenery. Anyway, the the Italian movie stars are selling their mansion on the other side of the lake. Wonder who will buy it? Having a small "range war". The CFO of a large fortune 500 company cut the fence of the COO of another fortune 500 company. No rifles. Going to be settled in court.
Wishing everyone a safe and, hopefully warm, holiday season.
