Oh my! What a week. It took 3 hours to complete the prep work for my new bridge. I've had several temporary crowns and no problems, but this one is bothering me. Two weeks and the permanent one will be on. My good friend had her second hip replacement and I've been preparing meals for her and her husband. It's been so hot I have to cook either very early in the morning or late at night. She is doing far better this time.
18 inches off and ready to donate to Wigs for Kids. This is the second time my granddaughter has donated. Took her in to get gym shoes. She finally decided on a pair of black and white Converse. She looks so cute with her shoulder length hair. We're going to add some blonde highlights in a few weeks. She's hooked on watching Stranger Things.
Managed to lose 2 pounds. Bought lots of fruit and veggies for the weekend. Hubs is going to barbeque steaks and corn on the cobb. The end of summer is upon us. Now if the heat can just move out.

losing 2.3 lb a week

Not surprised with the gain. Spent 3 days at my 50th class reunion. Good food and good alcohol. It was nice to see so many of my classmates. I found it interesting that even after all these years, we still default to people we hung out with back in the 70s. Some of us have weathered the years better than others. I am very fortunate to still be mobile and pretty healthy. I told my college roommate that my HS crush is still as handsome as ever. She said he probably had botox. That never crossed my mind. Didn't notice anything when we were visiting.
I feel fall in the evening and early morning air. Trucks are rolling in so cattle loading can begin. We still have cattle to round up. So our trucks are a few weeks out. We'll see whether we came out ahead or not.

gaining 1.2 lb a week

I've always been fascinated by the northern lights. We had huge solar flares most of last week. Checked every night, but no lights. Every Saturday night when I was young, we went to the drive-in theater. Mom would pop popcorn and make Kool Aid, load all of us into her station wagon and off we'd go. On one hot August night, the black velvet of the sky opened up to unleash the most magnificent display of the northern lights. It was so amazing the movie was halted so everyone could watch. Have not seen lights like that since. I keep hoping.
Diuretic is slowly working. Down another half pound. I have been good with drinking fluids. One thing I discovered is the hydration multiplier I drink has more sodium than I thought. So that's off my fluid list. The nectarines are still sweet and delicious.

Dropped a few more pounds. Still not back where I was before stopping the diuretic. The journey continues.
The nectarines have been so delicious this summer. I'll be sad when they are out of season.
Scared myself silly last night. Went out to turn off the spickets. It was very dark with no moonlight or stars. As I came around the last pipe, something grabbed me. I can't begin to tell you what skittered through my mind. I didn't scream--wouldn't have done me any good anyway--but I froze until I realized it was an axe handle stuck in a log. I am so glad my old lady bladder held strong. In my defense, there are scary things out there.

Talked to my doctor and starting tomorrow I'm back on the diuretic. Weight is up another few pounds. It's so annoying.
Our new porch is coming along. Gravel will be delivered on Friday and cement pour is for 6:30am Monday. It's so hot they won't pour or finish after 10:30am. I'm glad we're almost done. Went into town and picked up a few groceries and cleaning supplies. Carrying those bags in the the heat all the way around the house was a pain. Was surprised that the coffee I like went up $8.
Granddaughter had her orientation today. Really enjoyed it and is very excited to start school. Know what her biggest concern is? Opening the lock on her locker.
Meeting friends for sushi tomorrow. Will need to watch the soy sauce.
